Speaker Jeffries Scares The Bejesus Out Of The GOP

Spread The Love

Could House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries soon become House Speaker Jeffries?

Politics :
After running through 2 House Speakers in only 6 months, House Republicans — who are being influenced by Trump/MAGA poster-girl Marjorie Taylor Greene — are infighting again and threatening to replace current Speaker Mike Johnson with yet a 3rd choice. However, word out of Washington is that Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries could turn the GOP battle into him becoming Speaker Jeffries.

Speaker Jeffries

Rep. Hakeem Jeffries of New York is the first Black lawmaker to hold the title of House minority leader. So, it’s worth noting that he could make history again by becoming the first Black US Speaker of the House. Interestingly, the possibilities are not so farfetched.

The fact that Republicans are even considering replacing Speaker Johnson after only 6 months on the job proves just how dysfunctional and divided the GOP has become. However, their division comes at a cost, since Republicans hold a razor-thin majority in the House while Democrats are uniquely united and standing firm behind Jeffries.

GOP Rep. Matt Gaetz of Florida believes that if Johnson is ousted as speaker, no other Republican may want the job. He also fears that a few Republicans could make a deal with Democrats to join their unanimous support into turning Leader Hakeem Jeffries into Speaker Jeffries.

“I am not here to defend @SpeakerJohnson’s choices or his actions,” Gaetz tweeted. “However, when I filed the motion to vacate the previous Speaker, we had a four-seat majority. My sincere worry is that one or two or three of my Republican colleagues would be susceptible to a bribe and will hand the House over to Democrats. That is why I do not support a motion to vacate at this time.”

His fears may be warranted.

If House Republicans are successful in kicking Johnson out of the speaker’s chair, GOP members may become skittish and decline to place their name in nomination for speaker (only to risk being replaced a few months from now). That could lead to another several weeks without a speaker and a work stoppage within Congress to handle the people’s business.

Speaker Jeffries

Such a scenario could prompt only a handful of Republicans to tire of the political drama, make a pact with the unwavering and united Democrats, and elevate Speaker Jeffries into US history.

IF the so-called “leaders” of the Republican Party had a modicum of intelligence they would be worried about the Dems, especially House Minority Leader, Hakeem Jeffries.

But given that the Repub leadership is literally a bunch of dangerous Clowns 🤡 I don’t think they have enough sense to be worried about Jeffries!

Mr.BD

I do not think Repubs will let this happen. But it is a funny idea if it turned out this way.

Truthiz1

I could be wrong BD but I actually think Jeffries may be content with being Minority Leader of the House….for now.

Let the Repubs have this time (until the Nov elections) to really turn on one another and tear one another apart! 😀

ABC News:House Democratic leadership announced on Tuesday that if a motion to
vacate Speaker Mike Johnson is brought to the House floor for a vote,
they would vote to table the effort — effectively saving the speaker
from ouster. Less than an hour later, Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor
Greene indicated that she will trigger a move to oust Johnson to put
members on the record.

“We will vote to table Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene’s Motion to Vacate
the Chair. If she invokes the motion, it will not succeed,” the leaders
wrote in a statement.
