Speaker Paul Ryan, Republicans,
Dance Around Trump

It’s the ultimate game of “Having your cake and eating it too.” House Speaker Paul Ryan and various Republicans are trying to have it both ways when it comes to their GOP presidential nominee, Donald J. Trump.  But why?

Politics
For months now, Trump has been uttering some of the most horrific and repulsive statements ever made by a presidential contender.  His laundry-list of remarks include mocking a disabled journalist, saying Mexicans are rapists, Muslims are terrorists and should all be banned from the U.S., a Mexican-American judge is incapable of doing his job because of his race, as well as this past weekend’s lewd and lascivious words about women and their private parts.

In the words of the late poet emeritus Maya Angelou, “When someone shows you who they are, BELIEVE THEM!” Donald Trump has spent a lifetime showing us all exactly who he is.  So, why is Speaker Paul Ryan, who is currently the highest-ranking Republican in Washington, still straddling the fence about who “The Donald” really is?

A variety of Republicans have come out publicly to denounce Trump and disavow any support of his candidacy. That list includes such GOP heavyweights as Sen. John McCain of Arizona, Sen. Susan Collins of Maine, Ohio Sen. Rob Portman, Alaska Sen. Lisa Murkowski,  Alabama Gov. Robert Bentley, and more. However, Speaker Paul Ryan and a handful of other Republicans remain straddling the fence as they attempt to have it both ways when it comes to Trump. How is this possible?

Politics
On Monday, Ryan conducted a conference call with fellow Republicans, saying he will no longer defend Donald Trump, will not support Donald Trump, and will not campaign with Donald Trump, opting instead to use the next 29 days to focus on preserving his party’s control of Congress. However, when asked if he still stands by his previous endorsement of Trump for president, Ryan said yes!

A similar position was struck by Republican strategist and CNN contributor Scottie Nell Hughes, who called Trump’s comments about women deplorable and unfitting of the potential leader of the free world but still vowed to support him for president.

HUH???

How is it possible to despise racism, misogyny, Islamophobia, and rhetoric against the handicapped, but throw your full support behind a candidate who is an avowed racist, misogynist, supporter of religious segregation, and promoter of mocking the disabled????

Many Republicans have seen the writing on the wall, have written off winning the presidency in 2016, and have jumped off the Trump bandwagon before it crashes and burns. However, Paul Ryan still wants to have it both ways.  He wants the public to see him join in their utter disgust against the actions of Donald Trump — but he also wants Republican voters to see him standing behind the GOP nominee, no matter how vile and despicable that nominee continues to be.

The only problem is, you can’t have it both ways.  When all is said and done, Speaker Paul Ryan will learn this lesson the hard way.

There. Right there DJ. You've summed up the madness that Paul Ryan, Mitch McConnell and the entire GOP leadership must reckon with….and deservedly so.

Look. There is NO actual leadership in the GOP and there hasn't been, IMO, since Newty, Tom Delay and the boyz blew themselves up with the government shutdowns of 1995 and 96 in failed attempts to end Bill Clinton's presidency (egged on by the likes of Rush Limbaugh and his rotten ilk).

It's been pretty much downhill from there for the GOP. And the election of the first African-American President in U.S. history, in 2008, has brought the GOP's lack of real leadership into even starker view.

So now that Trump has taken over that party, the quandary for Ryan et al is obvious. In a desperate attempt to try to hold onto what little power they think they have left (they have None), they're doing their crazy jig because they know "there is NO GOP without Trump voters."

But the truth is, there is NO GOP with them either…smh.

Yep. And it looks like the Dems have a real chance to take back the Senate ….perhaps even pick-up several seats in the House. We shall see.

In the meantime, I'm ready to vote Now!

Trump: 'It is so nice that the shackles have been taken off me'

Donald Trump celebrated his freedom from the Republican establishment Tuesday {morning}, boasting that it’s “so nice” to be unchained.

Trump’s tweet was a tacit attack on House Speaker Paul Ryan, whom the Republican nominee has continued to lash out at since the top elected Republican on Monday told his conference he would no longer defend Trump.

“It is so nice that the shackles have been taken off me and I can now fight for America the way I want to,” Trump tweeted.

The real estate mogul also highlighted the chasm in the Republican Party, conceding that Democrats are “far more loyal” than the GOP. More than two dozen Republicans have either said they will no longer support their nominee or called on him to step aside from the top of the ticket since a tape emerged Friday showing Trump speaking in incredibly lewd terms about sexually assaulting women.

“With the exception of cheating Bernie out of the nom the Dems have always proven to be far more loyal to each other than the Republicans!” Trump wrote.

Trump began blasting Ryan on Twitter at about 8 a.m., when he posted a tweet criticizing the GOP leader for not supporting him and followed up by calling him “weak and ineffective.” Politico

So umm….sounds like Donald AIN'T feeling Ryan's crazy jig. Donald also seems to be coming a bit UN-hinged.

He's losing the election right now…and he knows it. He's not going down alone. He'll burn the entire GOP to the ground.

He doesn't give a fig about the that party. He never has.

  4. ….and THIS……..

"Glenn Beck calls Clinton 'moral, ethical' choice"

It is not acceptable to ask a moral, dignified man to cast his vote to help elect an immoral man who is absent decency or dignity. If the consequence of standing against Trump and for principles is indeed the election of Hillary Clinton, so be it. At least it is a moral, ethical choice. If she is elected, the world does not end. Once elected, Hillary can be fought.

The alternative does not offer a moral person the same opportunity. If one helps to elect an immoral man to the highest office, then one is merely validating his immorality, lewdness, and depravity. […]

"Apparently they're serving ice-cream in Hell today."

    1. Oh boy if Glen Beck is saying he would rather back Clinton over Trump then hell definitely has froze over. LOL

  5. Paul Ryan is a hipocrite. There is no way in the world he can say he hates everything Trump stands for then turn around and say he still supports him. What is wrong with these clowns?

  6. Trump is tweeting against his own party. Hey Trump, please go away asshole.
