How do a couple of reality show gate crashers get past 3 Secret Service checkpoints and inside the White House State Dinner, to meet and shake the hand of President Obama himself and his visiting foreign dignitary???
That’s the question on many minds in Washington today, after uninvited Virginia couple, Michaele and Tareq Salahi, got deep within last week’s White House State Dinner. Now, a “deeply concerned and embarrassed” Secret Service on Friday acknowledged that its officers never checked whether the two were on the guest list before letting them onto the White House grounds.
The Salahi’s have been prepping to star in a reality television show and thought it would be a lark to attempt to breach security and just see if they could get inside the closed White House affair. But to their surprise, not only were they allowed to bypass all security checkpoints and gain admission inside the dinner tent on the south lawn of the White House, but they were also able to enter the receiving line and meet both President Obama and Indian Prime MInister Manmohan Singh. The Salahi’s are asking for a half million dollars to face cameras and tell their story in a sit down televised interview. But now, their night of frivolity has the Salahi’s facing criminal and federal charges.
The Secret Service tried to relieve fears by saying Mr. Obama was never in any danger, since the couple — like others at the dinner — had gone through magnetometers. But in light of their close proximity to the President and a visiting foreign dignitary, coupled with the potential for an international incident, no such claim was made Friday. “The Salahi’s were not on the guest list and should have been barred from entering last Tuesday’s dinner,” said Secret Service Director Mark Sullivan. Sullivan also reiterated the agency that protects the President is “deeply concerned and embarrassed” that procedures were not followed. “As our investigation continues, appropriate measures have been taken to ensure this is not repeated.”

Somebody should be FIRED.Thank goodness THIS ridicules couple turned out to be harmless. But that didn't have to be the case! The truth is, THIS incident has now confirmed the worst fears expressed by many people that the Secret Service is NOT_and has NOT been_providing adequate protection for the First Black President of the United States and THAT is UNacceptable!
