Stevie Wonder To Undergo Kidney Transplant
Prayers, chants, meditations and more are in store for entertainment icon Stevie Wonder, who will be stepping away from his illustrious music career to have a kidney transplant.

Stevie Wonder, the man who provided the soundtrack to the most memorable moments of our lives, announced late last week that a health crisis has made it necessary for him to undergo a kidney transplant in September. Stevie will play 3 more concerts in the coming weeks then step away from music making and concert performing for an extended period as he heals and his body (hopefully) accepts the new kidney.
“So what’s gonna happen is this, I’m going to have surgery, I’m going to have a kidney transplant in September of this year,” Stevie announced to a shocked arena during a concert in London. “I’m all good, I’m all good, I’m all good. I have a donor, it’s all good,” Wonder added. “I want you to know I came here to give you my love and to thank you for your love. You ain’t gotta hear no rumors about nothing, I told you what’s up. I’m good. All right?”
Although Stevie Wonder has been rumored to have been seriously ill for months, those reports were frequently dismissed as typical internet fodder. However, The Detroit Free Press was first to report that the Motown icon has been battling “a serious but manageable health issue” and has been touring overseas with a medical team.
Born Stevland Hardaway Judkins, Stevie Wonder has been blind since shortly after birth. Still, that never stopped him from learning to play keyboards, the harmonica, and from becoming one of the most prolific musical artists of a generation. He has been nominated 74 times for a Grammy Award while winning 25 Grammys and a lifetime achievement award.
Sending positive thoughts and energy to Stevie for a successful procedure, a speedy recovery, and years of great music for the future.

What a blessing it was for me and my sibs to have been brought up in a household and a community, during a time when this man’s incredible gift could be heard literally everywhere! Stevie Wonder was a music prodigy and has always so generously shared his musical genius with the world. (sidenote) My parents loved Stevie Wonder. My maternal grandmother-a deeply religious woman if ever there was one- even she appreciated Stevie’s talents…lol. But in my life there was no bigger fan of Stevie Wonder than my brother, whose first name happened to be Steve ….and in our family he was always called ‘Stevie.’ My brother also grew up to become an accomplished pianist. He died much too young and I miss him dearly. But… Read more »
