Super Tuesday Is Super
For Hillary, Trump
The all-important Super Tuesday voting has come and gone, with Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton looking very much like the eventual Republican and Democratic nominees for president.

Tuesday was a big night for Donald Trump, who won 7 out of the 11 Super Tuesday states. Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Massachusetts, Tennessee, Vermont and Virginia all decided Trump is their man.
However, Ted Cruz also won on Tuesday, taking Alaska, Oklahoma and his home state of Texas. In Alaska, Cruz won 36%, Trump won 34% and Marco Rubio won 16%. In Oklahoma, Cruz finished with 34%, Trump with 28% and Rubio with 26%. In Texas, Cruz won a whopping 44%, with Trump coming in at 27% and Rubio at 18%.
As for Sen. Marco Rubio, he finally won a state.
Although votes were still being tallied at the time of this writing, Rubio was projected by The Associated Press to win the GOP caucuses in Minnesota. With about 70% of the precincts in, Rubio had garnered 36% of the vote, compared to Ted Cruz’s 28% and Donald Trump’s 22%.
While much of the Republish establishment rushed to his corner over the past several days (in the hopes of stopping the rise of Donald Trump), Rubio’s campaign has been surging. However, he was dogged by the fact that he had yet to outright win anywhere, despite relatively strong finishes in Iowa and South Carolina.
As for the Democrats, Tuesday was also a big night for Hillary Clinton. She also won 7 out of 11 states, including Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Massachusetts, Tennessee, Texas and Virginia.
Bernie Sanders took the states of Colorado, Oklahoma, Minnesota and his home state of Vermont. Sanders won 59% to 40% in Colorado, 62% to 38% in Minnesota, 52% to 42% in Oklahoma and an astounding 86% to 14% in Vermont.
Despite a range of wins for both Republicans and Democrats, Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton still lead easily in the delegate count.
With 1,237 delegates needed to clinch the Republican nomination, Trump currently has 488 delegates, Cruz has 303 and Rubio has 158.
On the Democratic side, 2383 delegates are needed to seize the nomination. Currently, Hillary Clinton is nearly halfway there with 997, while Bernie Sanders has 633.
Now we know why it’s called “Super Tuesday.”
Thanks DJ. I watched a little of it in real time last night. As noted in your post, Trump didn't quite run the table but he still had a good night which means he's still well on his way to securing the Repub nomination. And Cruz did a little better than expected. The numbers tell the real story. Thus far, the majority of Repub voters still do NOT support Trump. However, as long as the factions continue splitting their support between 4 other candidates…and Trump's hard-core support (35-40%) remains firmly united behind him….the "Anybody-But-Trump" crowd won't be able to stop him. In the meantime, the GOP is in the midst of a major crack-up – a lot of in-fighting going on within that party right now. Word to Hillary: Don't get side-tracked. Stay focused and keep the fire burning. Ignore the constant chatter of pundit-idiots and so-called political analysts (most… Read more »
