Supreme Court Immunity Ruling Has A Loophole

Spread The Love

Don’t look now, but ordinary Americans may have found an unexpected loophole in the new Supreme Court immunity ruling.

Politics :
Earlier this week, the 6 ultra-conservative US Supreme Court justices gift-wrapped an early “election” present for Donald Trump: presidential immunity. It’s just what he wanted for Christmas.

Supreme Court Immunity

In a landmark 6-3 decision, the justices concluded that US presidents should be granted absolute immunity for any crimes they commit during their term. This means that a president could order the US military to assassinate his political enemies or challengers. All the president would have to do is make up a flimsy excuse that his actions were conducted under his official duties and he could avoid any attempts to prosecute him or put him behind bars.

With this new “Get-Out-Of-Jail-Free” card, Trump could not only avoid accountability for all pending court cases against him, but he could run wild and commit any crime his mind could muster — all without recourse.

The only problem with the new Supreme Court immunity ruling is that Donald Trump is not currently the president. Joe Biden is. Or, in other words, the hand-wrapped gift the justices intended for Trump in 2025 could be used by President Biden right now!

Sharp Americans were quick to figure this out and have taken over social media with suggestions that Mr. Biden immediately pursue actions against Trump under the guise of “official duties.”

@Insomniac_Nat suggested, “Needs to sign an executive order that bans felons from running for president, immediately.”

@AishaS said, “If Joe Biden doesn’t use this SCOTUS ruling on presidential #immunity on “official” acts to take some drastic action, then he and his entire administration and campaign are addled in truly epic ways.”

@lo_runner tweeted, “As an official act of POTUS, Biden should immediately add 4 more SCOTUS Justices. #Immunity.”

@cmclymer stated, “Seriously, Pres. Biden needs to take this little “immunity for official acts” protection out for a little spin.”

@fred_guttenberg, an activist against gun violence who lost his 14-year-old daughter in the 2018 Parkland high school shooting, tweeted, “Now that Biden has unlimited immunity, he should declare the gun industry as terrorist organizations and as a domestic threat.”

Journalist @BrianKarem asked, “So, can Joe Biden, in his ‘official capacity’ issue an executive decision today that nullifies the Supreme Court decision giving him immunity?”

Journalist @atrupar stated, “It’s time for Joe Biden to cancel the election and declare himself dictator. After all, he has total presidential immunity, right?”

@TeaPainUSA joked, “King Biden the First, as his first official act, can declare the 2016 election invalid, thereby removin’ Trump of any immunity he might have. You’re welcome.”

President Biden may not take any of those suggestions to exploit the new Supreme Court immunity ruling, but he 100% could since he is the sitting president of the United States.

Interestingly, in light of the new Supreme Court immunity ruling, several Democratic lawmakers have renewed discussions for President Biden to expand the court beyond its current 9 justices.

By adding 4 more justices to the nation’s highest court — which would be within his right to do — Mr. Biden could balance the conservative tilt of the Supreme Court and return normalcy and fairness to the bench. He could also push through 4 new lifetime appointees before the November election.

But, here’s the best part. He could do it all with absolute immunity.

Thanks, Supreme Court!
