SUPREME COURT ON IMMIGRATION
The Supreme Court has spoken!
In what legal analysts are calling a victory for the Obama administration and a defeat for the State of Arizona, the Supreme Court ruled Monday that state laws may not supercede federal law when it comes to immigration.
This means that laws regarding immigration which were implemented in Arizona and a few other states can not stand.

In a unanimous vote, the justice’s struck down 3 out of 4 laws presented to the court. Only one law was upheld, which will allow states to stop anyone and require them to produce proof that they are a U.S. citizen, so long as there is probable cause.
Hispanic and civil rights groups say the court still did not go far enough, since states will continue to racially profile Hispanics. The Obama administration applauded the ruling, but Gov. Jan Brewer of Arizona oddly claimed it as a victory for her state.
Currently, immigration state laws exist in Arizona, Mississippi, Utah, Alabama, Georgia and North Carolina.
