If the television show “Extreme Makeover” could accept currency as contestants, some say the American dollar should be first in line to be on it.
The green, horse-hair filled U.S. currency has been around for a long time, and is considered old, outdated and showing its age. Just put it up next to the stylish Euro Dollar and you might cower in embarrassment. But a new initiative known as the Dollar ReDe$ign Project, thinks it has the solution.
Organized by creative strategy consultant Richard Smith, the Dollar ReDe$ign Project is currently soliciting ideas to design and vote for the dollar bill of the future. According to their website, “The ‘only’ realistic way for a swift economic recovery is through a thorough, in-depth, rebranding scheme – starting with the redesign of the iconic US Dollar – it’s the ‘only’ pragmatic way to add some realistic stimulation into our lives!” And so they have enabled voting for a new currency design, with the most popular to be submitted to the U.S. Mint.
