Ted Cruz Ineligible For President?
Is Canadian-born Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz truly eligible to be President of the United States? Inquiring minds want to know.

As the old saying goes, “What goes around, comes around.” Well, those words couldn’t be more relevant now that one of the ringleaders of the Obama birther movement is being subjected to the same treatment himself. Oh, karma — you are always so deliciously on time.
After barking orders for Barack Obama to produce an authentic birth certificate to prove his eligibility for the Oval Office, Ted Cruz is having the tables turned on him. Except now, it is Republican frontrunner Donald Trump who has let the dogs out on Cruz.
Ted Cruz was born in Calgary, Canada, however he is arguing that because his mother was born in America, he is eligible to become president. Among the requirements of a presidential candidate is that he/she must be 35 years old, have been a resident of the US for 14 years and be a “natural-born citizen” of the United States. Since his mother was born in Delaware, Cruz is pulling out all stops to convince voters that his mother’s status qualifies him as “natural-born.” Well, Donald Trump ain’t buyin’ it!
Keeping a close eye on the 2nd place Ted Cruz, the usually nonsensical Trump actually made a very sensible argument against his Republican challenger. According to Trump, if Cruz were elected president, Democrats could easily file a lawsuit to challenge his eligibility. They could then use legal maneuvers to stretch the lawsuit out over 3-4 years, effectively making it impossible for Cruz to ever take the presidential oath or serve even 1 day as Commander-In-Chief. “It would be a legal nightmare,” says Trump.
Surprisingly, Donald Trump is 100% correct. The United States has never had a presidential candidate admit to being born in a foreign country, yet attempt to use an eligibility loophole to become president anyway. It is simply unprecedented. Already, Democratic U.S. Representative Alan Grayson of Florida has threatened to bring a lawsuit challenging Cruz’s eligibility if he becomes the Republican nominee. Needless to say, such a scenario would be a nightmare for Republicans and for the country.

The argument that Cruz’s mother was a US citizen at the time of his Canadian birth is a sticky one. Most constitutional scholars agree that anyone with at least one parent who was a US citizen at the time of birth automatically inherits that parent’s citizenship. However, journalists at conservative news outlet Breitbart discovered that Cruz’s parents were registered Canadian voters at the time of his birth, which is crucial information. In order for his mother to vote in Canada, she would have needed to be a Canadian citizen.
Becoming a Canadian citizen requires an oath of allegiance — and Section 349 of the US Immigration and Nationality Act stipulates that American citizens who swear allegiance to another country lose their American citizenship. So, it seems very likely that Cruz’s mother lost her American citizenship while voting in Canada, which means Ted Cruz was not a US citizen at the time of his birth and is therefore ineligible to become president.
With this information, the GOP has an incredible mess on their hands. Their top 2 candidates include a blowhard bigot who can’t win in the general election, and a Canadian-born candidate who’s likely not even eligible for the nomination.

Oh, karma — you are always so deliciously on time! […] Hear-Hear!..DJ. You are really on a roll these days….lol Cruz is in the process of having his "natural born" legs cut out from under him by his bosom-buddy-pal-n-chum..the "birther" king himself. Poor fella. Cruz had hoped that by playing nice with Trump, Trump would spare him the vicious attacks Trump routinely levels at all other challengers. And up till now Trump has shown some restraint in his attacks against Cruz. But frankly, Trump held back out of deference to evangelical voters who Trump doesn't want to offend. Looks like Trump has decided to go after Cruz but with a smile,… Read more »
