Conservative rocker/good ol’ boy Ted Nugent is in hot water for running his loud mouth (again), in a way that could reward him with a trip to the old Graybar (jail) “hotel.”
Nugent made an appearance over the weekend at the National Rifle Association’s annual convention in St. Louis. As usual, he took direct aim at the black man in the White House. But this time, his comments registered the attention of the federal government when he said “If Barack Obama becomes the president in November again, I will either be dead or in jail by this time next year.”
Nugent is no stranger to controversial comments that cross way over the line. Often known more for his big mouth rather than his music, this is the same man who said the Obama administration is “vile, evil, and America-hating” and also called the more liberal justices of the Supreme Court “evil, anti-American people.”
Although freedom of speech is a natural right in America, it is illegal for anyone to make threats against the President of the United States. For Nugent to intimate that he expects to either be “dead or in jail” if President Obama is elected to a 2nd term was all the Secret Service needed to launch a formal investigation. Government officials could end up giving him at least one of his wishes and placing him in jail long before a possible Obama reelection.
As an interesting side note, Republicans were calling it a travesty last week when Democratic consultant Hilary Rosen said Ann Romney has never worked a day in her life. Yet Republicans have been eerily silent this week now that one of their own has made open and public threats against the Democratic President of the United States. Hmmm…
I doubt that any Repub will speak out against Nugent because the truth is Nugent is simply saying OUT LOUD what many, if not most, Repubs are saying among themselves. Certainly, the Repub *base* is aligned with Nugent, a right-wing, paranoid-delusional NUTJOB, filled with Hate and spewing bile on the regular.
