Building an environmentally friendly city in the middle of the desert has been done already and it failed. It’s called Dubai. 

Instead of building an entire city on top of the Mojave desert, defeating the purpose of being eco friendly, we should implement better solutions and environmentally friendly alternatives into every day life of the society that is already here. We need to stop expanding and leave room for nature to have for herself.
