Donald J. Trump is (once again) officially off his rocker. Now, he has finally admitted that he wants to ‘terminate the constitution.’
Top News Today :
Although Trump announced he is running for president again in 2024, he has still never let go of the myth that he somehow won in 2020 and was cheated out of victory by some nefarious plot to deny him the presidency. This continuation of “The Big Lie” led him to post to his Truth Social network over the weekend a call to terminate the constitution and all its rules regarding elections. He also replayed one of his old greatest hits and called for the government to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election (apparently due to some new information that Twitter suppressed a damaging story about Hunter Biden) and that he be immediately reinstated to his rightful place in the Oval Office.
“So, with the revelation of MASSIVE & WIDESPREAD FRAUD & DECEPTION in working closely with Big Tech Companies, the DNC, & the Democrat Party, do you throw the Presidential Election Results of 2020 OUT and declare the RIGHTFUL WINNER, or do you have a NEW ELECTION? Trump barked in his Truth Social post. “A Massive Fraud of this type and magnitude allows for the termination of all rules, regulations, and articles, even those found in the Constitution,” he continued.
As always, ‘The Donald’ never submitted an ounce of proof regarding fraud and/or deception — widespread or otherwise — and every court in the country has either debunked or completely thrown out his legal claims of an allegedly fraudulent election. Still, logic and facts were unable to prevent Trump from reviving his old rant that he’s the president, that he never lost, and that we should all terminate the constitution just to give him his way.
Needless to say, no one was amused with his latest attempts to steal back The White House.
“Attacking the Constitution and all it stands for is anathema to the soul of our nation and should be universally condemned,” Deputy White House Press Secretary Andrew Bates said in a statement. “The Constitution brings the American people together — regardless of party — and elected leaders swear to uphold it. It’s the ultimate monument to all of the Americans who have given their lives to defeat self-serving despots that abused their power and trampled on fundamental rights,” Bates added.
“Trump’s words and actions are unacceptable, they stoke hatred and political violence, and they are dangerous,” Rep. Don Beyer (D-Va.) said.
“Trump just called for the suspension of the Constitution and it is the final straw for zero Republicans, especially the ones who call themselves ‘constitutional conservatives,’” Democratic Sen. Brian Schatz of Hawaii tweeted.
“Virtually every word of that statement is wrong, crazy, and dangerous,” CNN legal analyst Elie Honig said. “I mean the only accurate thing Donald Trump says is that to do what he is recommending would require termination of the constitution which, of course, would leave us without a democracy.”
Donald Trump is fresh off a controversial dinner at Mar-a-Lago with rapper Ye (formerly Kanye West) and a known white nationalist. Still, he apparently craved more attention in the press and this revival of the old “I won” claims was just the remedy he needed to stroke his fragile ego.
“Our great ‘Founders’ did not want, and would not condone False & Fraudulent Elections!” Trump shouted.
Too bad for him, even many of his old Republican cohorts aren’t listening this time around.
OK WASSUP! discusses the Top News Today:
Trump wants to terminate the constitution.
CNN: Donald Trump’s call for the termination of the Constitution is his most extreme anti-democratic statement yet and seems oblivious to the sentiments of voters who rejected election deniers in the midterm elections. It may also reflect desperation on the part of the former president to whip up controversy and fury among his core supporters in order to inject some energy into a so-far lackluster 2024 White House bid. Trump’s comments on his Truth Social network – which should be easy for anyone to condemn – are exposing the familiar moral timidity of top Republicans who won’t disown the former president. But his latest tirade also plays into the arguments of some Republicans now saying that it’s time to move on from Trump’s fixation with the 2020 election. And while it is far too early to write off his chances in the 2024 GOP nominating contest, Trump’s behavior since announcing… Read more »
