Texas Joe Biden Watching His Lead Widen?
Former vice-president and presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden could soon be rebranded with the nickname ‘Texas Joe Biden.’

As Donald Trump continues to self-destruct via his ongoing botched response to the coronavirus pandemic and his racist dog whistle to the white supremacists who support him, Joe Biden appears to be widening his lead over ‘The Donald.’ In fact, the lead has reached a level where Democratic operatives have urged Biden to “Go Big” and start competing in such traditional red states as Georgia, Ohio, and even Texas.
Presidential campaigns regularly select target states where they know their ad money will go to good use. That’s why you’ll never see a Trump ad in New York and California, or a Biden ad in Alabama or Mississippi. However, Democrats see an opening they haven’t seen since Jimmy Carter in 1976: a chance to turn Texas blue and create the winning moniker ‘Texas Joe Biden.’
According to The New York Times:
.
“Democratic lawmakers and party officials have lobbied Mr. Biden and his top aides to seize what they believe could be a singular opportunity not only to defeat Mr. Trump but to rout him and discredit what they believe is his dangerous style of racial demagogy.”
Yes, party officials see a window where Joe Biden could not only (narrowly) defeat Donald Trump in the Lone Star state, but also crush him in Florida, Georgia, and Ohio to boot. That Biden victory could then successfully alter down-ballot races and potentially hand Democrats control of the US Senate, House of Representatives, and The White House.
The Biden camp has taken notice and already answered the call with the launch of a new campaign ad released Tuesday in Texas.
Titled “Tough,” the minute-long coronavirus-focused spot is part of a new mid-six-figure broadcast and digital advertisement buy from Texas Joe Biden.
“I’m thinking of all of you today across Texas. I know the rise in case numbers is causing fear and apprehension. People are frightened. They’re especially worried about their parents, their grandparents, loved ones who are most at risk,” Biden says in the ad.
“I want every single American to know — if you’re sick, if you’re struggling, if you’re worried about how you’re going to get through the day, I will not abandon you,” Biden continues. “We’re all in this together. We’ll fight this together, and together we’ll emerge from this stronger than we were before we began.”
Interestingly, the spot makes no mention of Donald Trump by name, which was done to draw a stark contrast with Trump’s handling of the coronavirus pandemic.
The campaign said it intends to spend precious campaign cash to run ads in Arizona, Florida, and North Carolina — all states that have seen recent rises in coronavirus cases. And, the entire strategy is all by design.
Biden knows he can’t just beat a guy like Donald Trump in November. He has to trounce him emphatically so as to get ahead of Trump predictably calling the election “rigged” and refusing to step down. What better way for Texas Joe Biden to win big than to seize all of the states he’s expected to win plus grab a few others Trump needs for a 2nd term.
It may or may not work, but at least it’s worth a try!

Can ‘Texas Joe Biden’ win in the Lone Star state?
