Here we go again. A Texas school shooting has left 23 people dead. Sadly, 19 of them were children.
Top News Today :
We’ve heard it all far too many times before and now, here we are again. Another school shooting. Another deadly day with more than a dozen casualties. Another opportunity to offer “thoughts and prayers” to parents mourning the shooting of their beloved, young, and now-deceased children.
This time, the mass shooting took place at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde County, Texas. The school specialized in educating 2nd, 3rd, and 4th-grade children.
The Texas school shooting was executed by Salvador Ramos, a Uvalde High School student who only recently turned 18 and therefore became eligible to legally purchase the assault weapon he used in the deadly melee.’
According to police officials, Ramos first shot and killed his grandmother (for unknown reasons). Next, he left his home in a truck but crashed it in a ditch just outside the Robb Elementary School. While wearing body armor and armed with an AR-15 style rifle and numerous magazines, Ramos then entered the school and began shooting randomly at the 7 to 10-year-olds and their teachers. Soon thereafter, the suspect traded fire with Uvalde ISD officers and Border Patrol Tactical Unit agents and was killed on the spot.
“U.S. Border Patrol Agents responded to a law enforcement request for assistance re an active shooter situation inside Robb Elementary School in Uvalde. Upon entering the building, Agents & other law enforcement officers faced gunfire from the subject, who was barricaded inside,” a DHS spokeswoman said in a statement posted to Twitter.
So, what exactly prompted Ramos to purchase an assault weapon the moment he was legally allowed to do so, kill his grandmother, don protective body armor, then murder 19 school children and 2 school officials before succumbing to gunfire himself? Sadly, his motive is still yet unknown.
What is known is that Ramos sent a private direct message to an anonymous woman on Instagram showing photographs of his new weapon and offering a hint that he was planning a killing spree.
“I got a lil secret,” Ramos told the woman who barely knows him and is cooperating with authorities in their investigation.
In a prime-time address to the nation, an emotional President Biden asked for prayer, reflection, and empathy — but also demanded political action.
“How many scores of little children who witnessed what happened — seen their friends die as if they’re in a battlefield, for god’s sake,” Mr. Biden said as his voice trailed off. “To lose a child is like having a piece of your soul ripped away. There’s a hollowness in your chest,” he continued.
“When in god’s name are we going to stand up to the gun lobby?” Why are we willing to live with this carnage?” the president added.
Although Mr. Biden’s question was rhetorical, the answer is clear.
Republicans on Capitol Hill are controlled by the gun lobby, so expect them to do the same as they’ve done over the last several school shootings: absolutely nothing.
They shout about being “pro-life” and hell-bent on protecting the lives of unborn children, yet turn their backs on living and breathing children who are murdered by guns in a classroom.
Their solution is that the only thing that can kill a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun. Or, in other words, they want MORE guns in the hands of adults who maybe had a few beers then went to a gun range ONCE — or had 15 minutes of training on how to safely use a pistol.
They’d rather see an amateur shootout with innocent children in the crossfire of bullets than introduce legislation to outlaw military-style assault weapons that are much too powerful for hunting and clearly sold to rip through human flesh during a mass murder.
So, once again, our thoughts and prayers go out to the victims and their families of the Texas school shooting. With the GOP blocking the creation of laws that could prevent such shootings, regrettably “thoughts and prayers” is the best we can do.

BEFORE Sandy Hook, I used to believe that White America would never give a fig about gun violence as long as the victims were primarily Blacks and Hispanics. Silly me. I thought the minute little White children were the victims that’s when White America would finally become enraged and rise up to fight to save THEIR children…especially White mothers.
Sandy Hook revealed a sorrowful truth about White America, especially White mothers.
