Letterman was part of the Johnny Carson, Joan Rivers, Jay Leno era — but now, the old guard is gone and late night TV belongs to Jimmy Kimmel, Jimmy Fallon and, beginning in September, Stephen Colbert (as Dave’s CBS replacement).
