TGIF:  So Long, David Letterman

After 33 years and more than 6000 shows on television, including stints at both NBC and CBS, Late Show host David Letterman officially retired this week.

The man many say changed late night television was celebrated in a special 90 minute finale of his talk show, joined by some of the biggest names in Hollywood and even the current and several former Presidents of the United States.  A record 13.8 million people tuned in and they were not disappointed.

Letterman was part of the Johnny Carson, Joan Rivers, Jay Leno era — but now, the old guard is gone and late night TV belongs to Jimmy Kimmel, Jimmy Fallon and, beginning in September, Stephen Colbert (as Dave’s CBS replacement). Dave’s retirement was a “passing of the torch” and the dawn of a new day.David Letterman’s final show was a heartwarming tribute fit for a king and his brand of comedy will surely be missed. So long, Dave!

THANK GOD IT’S FRIDAY!
