The “N” Word Double-Standard
Advertisers, TV executives and the general public have been lining up to condemn Paula Deen’s previous use of the “N” word. However, Blacks and Latinos freely call each other the “N” word hundreds of times a day, yet that’s OK. But why?
What’s with the double-standard where blacks and Latinos can use the word, but everyone else can not?
If the word is as disgusting as most of us claim it to be, shouldn’t it be banned across the board? If 2 people are standing in front of us, one black and one white, why is it “endearing” to hear the “N” word come out of the black person’s mouth, but fighting words to hear the “N” word come out of a white person’s mouth?
Isn’t it time to throw away this nonsensical double-standard and replace it with common sense?
