TikTok Is NOT The Place For News!

Spread The Love

For those of you who use social media as your source for the latest news and important information, here’s a shocker: TikTok is NOT the news!

Current Events :
It’s sad to say, but today’s generation doesn’t watch television anymore or read something like, you know, a newspaper to stay abreast of current events. Instead, they’re perfectly content gluing their eyes to their mobile devices and learning how to navigate life from total strangers on social media sites.

TikTok

The only problem is that you can’t believe everything you read or hear — especially from total strangers on the internet — and people are learning this lesson the hard way.

One such example is from a woman who “heard” on TikTok that airline tickets are substantially cheaper if purchased in person at the airport and not online. Oh, brother!

In a video that has amassed over 166,000 views, TikTok user Jasmine (@jasminenicolebeauty) recently went to her local airport with a fist full of cash to buy several cheap airline tickets.

It didn’t go well.

“I go up there, and I tell a little lady that I’m trying to buy some plane tickets because I heard it’s cheaper here vs. online,” Jasmine said. “That lady was like, ‘That’s not true.’

“She told me the price and it’s $500 more — $500 more!” Jasmine exclaimed. “I was like, ‘It’s way cheaper online!’ That lady laughed at me so hard. Like, I literally made that lady’s week, and I’m just like, ‘It’s not funny, Susan.’”

In another social media fail, an Orlando man was booted from a flight for attempting to sneak a “pillow” onto the plane without paying.

TikTok

For years, TikTok users have shared the crafty cheat for bringing extra luggage items onto a flight for free. The trick involved pillows, which were not so long ago allowed on all flights without a fee. However, once airlines realized that passengers were stuffing empty pillowcases with clothes and sneaking them onto flights just to avoid paying extra baggage fees, the rules changed.

Apparently, the Orlando traveler didn’t get the memo and attempted to bring his “pillow” on board.

It didn’t go well.

In a viral video that has since been seen by millions, the man attempted to board his Frontier Airlines flight with a pillowcase full of jeans, underwear, and other personal items masquerading as a “pillow.” Recognizing that he was attempting to game the airline, Frontier employees denied boarding but said he could fly if he paid the $54 to $99 carry-on baggage fee.

The man refused and then delivered an angry performance at the gate announcing how he “heard” on TikTok that pillows fly free.

Too bad for him, but the doors closed and the plane took off with the man still ranting and raving about his pillow hack not being accepted. He was forced to rebook another flight and pay substantially more than if had just paid the fee for the first flight.

“Stop letting these sites, social media, give you tips and tricks because sometimes it’s not gonna work,” Natasha (@natashaorganic) commented on the video.

Or, in other words, stop depending on TikTok and other social media sites for real news and information.

I’m pretty sure I’ve said this at least once on this site and I’m about to say it again….

In America, if everyone age 50 and over suddenly disappeared, Putin would take complete control of this country within 48-72 hrs.

It may not take even that long. 😔

Mr.BD

That is the sad part of it all.

These kids really getting information from TikTok and believe it is real? I am not sure if I should laugh or cry.
