Tina Turner: Simply The Best!

Spread The Love

Tina Turner has earned her wings.

Entertainment :
Affectionately known as the Queen of Rock & Roll, singer, songwriter, and high-energy performer extraordinaire Tina Turner, who performed such hits as “Proud Mary,” “Simply The Best,” and more, passed away on Wednesday at the age of 83.

While the world mourns her loss from afar, I have a totally different experience.

I was fortunate to have worked for Tina as she prepared to bring her life story to the Broadway stage. I revel in the anecdote of her looking at the marquee adorned with her name and likeness but saying “Ike would be proud,” as she remembered her former husband Ike and her time as one-half of the renowned Ike & Tina Turner Revue. And I cherish the memory of looking into her eyes on the opening night of her Broadway show — with Oprah, Whoopi, and others by her side — and seeing her filled with emotion and immeasurable pride.

Tina Turner

Tina was more than a musical icon and a legend. She was a gift. She was also a warrior, having endured years upon years of physical and mental abuse from Ike Turner while still coming out on top.

The world mourns the memory and the music of Tina Turner. I mourn the memory of the woman born Anna Mae Bullock and sharing the same workspace with her to bring her life story to the masses.

You’ve earned your wings, Tina, and will be missed. Take your rest. Job well done!

DJ sounds like you’ve lived quite an amazingly life yourself!

My partner is a long-time admirer of Tina Turner and she really was hurt upon hearing the news of her passing!

I hadn’t known that Tina had been battling a serious illness for quite some years until she passed. She was indeed a living Legend.

May she Rest in Peace.

DJ you stay in high company. I remember you worked for Obama, now Tina Turner. That is some impressive stuff.

I knew she was sick from before when she got the kidney from her husband. But I thought she got better and everything worked out. Even still she lived a full life and got past all the stuff that happen with Ike. I also remember reading she was not afraid to die because she became a Buddhist. She was one of the greats. R.I.P.

She had become a Buddhist quite some years ago, soon after leaving Ike hadn’t she?
