Trash Art?
It may be hard to believe, but the shadow you see on the wall of the above photo is pure garbage.  Yes, you read correctly, it is GARBAGE:  made of discarded wood, welded scrap metal, broken tools, cigarette packets, soda cans and other piles of trash.

Tim Noble and Sue Webster are the creative talents who assemble trash objects, then point light toward them to project shadows of people standing, sitting, smoking, drinking and more. Every piece of debris is precisely set into place, carefully considering distance from the wall and angles within the spotlight. The result is absolutely unreal and is taking the concept of abstract art to an entirely new level.

  1. Are they actually calling it "Trash Art"..?

Because if they are then I'll at least give them credit for being honesty.

Given my feeling that much of what passes for creative "Art" in America (art, movies, music)…particularly over the past 15-20 yrs…is indeed just plain trash/garbage.

    Costly trash. But trash nevertheless.

  2. LOL ouch. I'm assuming you've focused on the trash you see in the forefront of the photos and not on the intricate shadowed images created behind the trash? These artists were able to take everyday household items, arrange them in a strategic way, then focus a light to create the shadows you see on the walls behind them. Some people are unable to draw those shadowed images, yet these artists took their creativity to an entirely new level. I definitely consider it art since it is so unique and no one before them (to my knowledge) ever created such a concept.

  3. Lol,

I have to agree with you. I did see the images but it is still trash to me. I wonder how many thousands of dollars it would go for?
