Trayvon Martin Mother Testifies
The mother of Trayvon Martin took the stand on Friday, providing climactic and emotional testimony that it was indeed her son on the 911 tape crying for help, only moments before George Zimmerman shot and killed him.
Sybrina Fulton held her composure as the 911 tape replayed the bone-chilling screams for help from a young sounding voice, before a gun shot silenced 17-year-old Trayvon Martin.
“Who do you recognize that [voice] to be?” the prosecutor asked Fulton. “Trayvon Benjamin Martin,” the distraught mother said without hesitation. The 6 female jurors, 5 of whom are mothers, each sat at the edge of their seat, almost assuredly understanding the pain of a mother who lost her young son.
However, defense attorneys pulled a trick from their sleeve in an attempt to trump the testimony of Sybrina Fulton, by calling the mother of George Zimmerman to the stand.
“And who’s voice was that [on the tape]?” defense attorney Mark O’Mara asked Gladys Zimmerman. “My son, George,” Zimmerman said.
The defense for George Zimmerman will begin presenting their case today, in a trial that could possibly go to the jury by late this week. Police are actively preparing for riots and unrest should Zimmerman be set free.
Dead Man Walking?
I can't imagine whatever pain she was feeling to have to go through this. I almost cried listening to the recording, don't know how she held up.
