TRAYVON’S LAST MOMENTS
What really happened on the night 17-year-old Trayvon Martin was killed? Only Trayvon Martin and his killer, George Zimmerman really know for sure. But now, the girlfriend of Trayvon Martin, who was on the cell phone with him at the time of his murder, has come forward.
In a 22 minute sworn interview, which was recorded on April 2nd, the unidentified 16-year-old said Martin described a man who was “crazy and creepy” and watching him from a vehicle before he started to follow him on foot.
Trayvon Martin expressed concern that the unknown man had targeted him and noticed he was in pursuit. The girlfriend implored Martin to run to the town house where he was staying with his father and his father’s girlfriend.
“I could hear the wind blowing,” said the girl, who is from Miami and has known Martin since kindergarten. But Martin “said he lost him,” so the girl assumed everything was fine.
But then a sense of urgency grew. Martin said the man “was getting close to him.” She strongly urged him to run again, but she could tell he was out of breath and tired, although he was close to the town house where he was a guest. “He (Trayvon) was breathing hard,” the girl said, and “his voice kind of changed. I know he was scared. His voice was getting kind of low.”
The girl, who had talked with Martin several times that evening, told the investigator that she then heard Martin ask, “Why are you following me for?” She heard the other man ask, “What are you doing around here?”
After calling out “Trayvon” several times over the phone, and getting no response, she heard somebody bump Martin. She heard him utter what sounded like, “Get off, get off.” Then the call ended.
