Trump 2nd Assassination Attempt: A Discussion
The Donald Trump 2nd assassination attempt has unleashed a whole bunch of ugly and proven that today’s political climate is far too out of control.
Current Events :
On Sunday, Ryan Wesley Routh, 58, camped outside the Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, FL for nearly 12 hours while armed with an AK-47-style rifle and intent on using it against the Republican nominee for president. US Secret Service agents saw a rifle pointing through a fence only a few hundred yards from where Trump was golfing and they opened fire. Routh took off and was later apprehended a few miles away.
On Monday, Donald Trump blamed President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris for the mood in the country that would make someone want to take his life.
“He believed the rhetoric of Biden and Harris, and he acted on it,” Trump said of the gunman during an interview with Fox News Digital. “Their rhetoric is causing me to be shot at, when I am the one who is going to save the country, and they are the ones that are destroying the country — both from the inside and out.”
Trump’s running mate, Sen. JD Vance, also weighed in, saying “You know the big difference between conservatives and liberals? No one has tried to kill Kamala Harris in the last couple of months, and two people now have tried to kill Donald Trump in the last couple of months.”
This Trump 2nd assassination attempt (following a July shooting in Butler, PA), has everyone talking — and not necessarily in constructive ways.
Let’s take a look at the brouhaha that has ensued:
IT’S A SETUP
Some voters have decided that the July shooting in Pennsylvania and now this 2nd attempt in Florida are not only uniquely suspicious but a possible setup by either Trump himself or an inside job staged by the government.
“I’m now thinking this is all a ploy. He’s either gunning (pun intended) for martyrdom or to get his zanies so riled that they go after his opponents and actually assassinate someone,” said Rebecca on social media.
“Yeah … it’s his own people! #FalseFlag” posted Edward. “I’m sure he’s raising money off this as we speak!”
Social media users have pointed to the fact that after sporting a huge bandage during the GOP convention, Trump’s ear appears miraculously unharmed. They’ve also discussed how Trump has turned each shooting attempt into a “money-raising” and “sympathy-gaining” advantage for himself.
Did Donald Trump stage an assassination attempt against himself in Pennsylvania earlier this summer? Would he have allowed a gunman to shoot a real bullet past his own head — a bullet that struck and killed one of his supporters? Was Sunday’s near-shooting also a plot from Trump?
CONSPIRACY?
Police in Florida have lent credence to a growing theory that the Trump 2nd assassination attempt may be part of a larger conspiracy.
According to The Hill, investigators are covering all bases and are now considering the conspiracy theory.
“I think what we’re finding out — he’s [Ryan Wesley Routh] not from this area — which, of course, raises the bigger question, how does a guy from not here get all the way to Trump International, realize that the president — former president of the United States — is golfing and is able to get a rifle in that vicinity?” Martin County Sheriff William Snyder told reporters on Monday.
“I think that’s the question the FBI, the Secret Service are laser-focused on today. Is this guy part of a conspiracy? Is he a lone gunman?” Snyder continued. He added that if the suspect is part of a broader conspiracy, “then this whole thing really takes on a very ominous tone.”
INSIDE JOB?
In addition to the belief that perhaps a group or foreign entity has it out for Donald Trump, some now believe this Trump 2nd assassination attempt may have been an “inside job.”
The general public was unaware of Trump’s presence in Florida on Sunday. Nor was it public knowledge that he intended to go golfing at his resort later that afternoon. So, how did the out-of-town gunman know to travel to Florida, and wait for hours for Trump to show up when nobody knew he was in the area?
Was Sunday’s shooting attempt the rogue act of a lone gunman who had a beef or a cause he wanted to amplify? Or, is it possible someone within the Trump campaign or even the US Secret Service provided information that could have led to Trump’s permanent demise?
ELON MUSK
On Monday, The White House called a rather damning social media post “irresponsible.”
Elon Musk, the new owner of Twitter/X and an ardent Donald Trump supporter, took his politics too far with a post that has only added to the hysteria of the moment.
“Why [do] they want to kill Donald Trump? And no one is even trying to assassinate Biden/Kamala,” Musk posted on Twitter/X following the Trump 2nd assassination attempt.
After The White House and ordinary users denigrated the post, Musk deleted it. He later claimed it was only “a joke.”
“Well, one lesson I’ve learned is that just because I say something to a group and they laugh doesn’t mean it’s going to be all that hilarious as a post on X,” Musk wrote. “Turns out that jokes are WAY less funny if people don’t know the context and the delivery is plain text,” he added shortly after.

Understandably, the Biden-Harris administration and the Harris-Walz campaign didn’t find his remarks the least bit funny.
“As President Biden and Vice President Harris said after yesterday’s disturbing news, ‘there is no place for political violence or for any violence ever in our country,’ and ‘we all must do our part to ensure that this incident does not lead to more violence,'” The White House said in a statement. “Violence should only be condemned, never encouraged or joked about. This rhetoric is irresponsible.”
No matter what anyone believes may or may not have happened — or what anyone’s personal politics might be — we should all be glad the attempts to assassinate Donald Trump have failed.
To put it bluntly, a deceased Trump is more dangerous than a living Trump.
If someone were successful at taking him out, he would instantly become a martyr among the MAGA movement. His name would be undeservedly added to an honored list of assassinated US presidents, including Abraham Lincoln and John F. Kennedy. His death would throw the election into chaos, likely prompting calls for the election to be postponed or for JD Vance to suddenly ascend to becoming the GOP nominee. Additionally, a successful attempt against Trump would put an immediate target on the backs of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. Or, in other words, some crazed MAGA sycophants would almost certainly seek revenge over the loss of their king.
This is not the road we should travel as a nation.
No matter what anyone says on or off social media or believes in their brand of politics, this Trump 2nd assassination attempt has awakened an ugly giant.
America has gone decades without someone seeking to rid the world of a current or former Commander-in-Chief. However, America hasn’t been this divided since perhaps the Civil War.
Donald Trump’s bombastic rhetoric has caused some to believe that he should no longer live. However, for anyone who deeply dislikes Donald, it would be so much sweeter to beat him at the ballot box and send him to jail, rather than put him in a box 6 feet underground.

Discussing the Trump 2nd assassination attempt.
Washington Post: Former president Donald Trump on Monday blamed the “rhetoric” of President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris for the apparent assassination attempt he faced Sunday. “[The suspected gunman] believed the rhetoric of Biden and Harris, and he acted on it,” Trump said in a Fox News interview published Monday morning. “Their rhetoric is causing me to be shot at, when I am the one who is going to save the country, and they are the ones that are destroying the country — both from the inside and out.” Trump — who previously warned of “potential death & destruction” if he were indicted in his New York criminal case related to alleged hush money payments, and has said during a rally that there will be a “bloodbath for the country” if he is not elected in November — echoed the claims again Monday afternoon on his Truth Social… Read more »
