Trump Case Considered Weak, Says Experts

Spread The Love

Donald Trump had his day in court on Tuesday in New York City. So, how strong does the Trump case look against ‘The Donald?’ Not good, say legal experts.

Top News Today :
A somber and pensive Trump entered the courtroom in New York City on Tuesday morning after being arrested on 34 counts related to illegal business practices including paying hush money to porn star Stormy Daniels. However, he emerged buoyant after reading the specifics of the charges levied against him.

According to the San Francisco Chronicle: “The indictment of former President Donald Trump by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg represents a sad example of a publicity-hungry prosecutor chasing headlines rather than charging a criminal case that can be proved beyond a reasonable doubt.”

Interestingly, multiple former members of the Manhattan District Attorney’s office and other legal experts agreed that the Trump case is extremely weak and believe that although it is almost certainly a misdemeanor, it fails to rise to the level of a felony.

“The question to ask yourself in a case like this [is], ‘Would a case like this be brought against anybody else, whether he or she be president, former president or a regular citizen?’ The answer is… no,” former Whitewater deputy counsel Sol Wisenberg said

“You can debate all day long whether or not… Trump should be indicted related to the records at Mar-a-Lago, whether or not he should be indicted with respect to Jan. 6 incitement of lawless activity… Those are real crimes if they occurred, and he committed them,” Wisenberg sad.

“This is preposterous,” he added.

However, The New York Times countered with the belief that the case is strong.

“With the release of the indictment and accompanying statement of facts, we can now say that there’s nothing novel or weak about this case. The charge of creating false financial records is constantly brought by Mr. Bragg and other New York D.A.s. In particular, the creation of phony documentation to cover up campaign finance violations has been repeatedly prosecuted in New York. That is exactly what Mr. Trump stands accused of,” The Times wrote in an op-ed piece on Tuesday.

Still, some political analysts believe that although the historic Trump case against a former US president could potentially fail, its purpose may not have been designed as a “slam dunk.”

With pending cases against ‘The Donald’ including his attempt to “find” votes in Georgia, his instigation of the January 6th Capitol Hill insurrection, stolen classified documents stored at his home, and more, the “gotcha” Trump case could be one to come and not the one currently in the news.

Trump Case

Is the New York case merely the first shoe to drop in a series of cases against Donald Trump? Or, is Donald Trump about to sidestep yet another legal close call?

We won’t know for awhile if this case is weak or strong. But I’m hopeful it proves to be the first shoe to drop.

I’m really looking at Georgia, which I believe would be a strong case. And then to a much lesser degree, the DOJ.

So far Garland appears to be too afraid to hold Trump accountable for the Jan. 6th riot. But we’ll see.

Hey Truth I agree Georgia is the big case. Trump is on tape telling them find him votes so he can be the winner. That should be a slam dunk right there.

Salt Lake Tribune: Prominent Utah Republicans are sounding off on former President Donald Trump’s indictment in New York, suggesting the charges may be politically motivated. On Tuesday, Trump pleaded not guilty to 34 felony counts of altering business records relating to hush money payments allegedly made to adult film actress Stormy Daniels in 2016 to cover up her affair with Trump, who was then a presidential candidate. Utah Sen. Mitt Romney, one of Trump’s most vocal critics, said he still feels that Trump’s personal conduct makes him unfit to hold political office, but the current case against him seems to be unfair. “I believe the New York prosecutor has stretched to reach felony criminal charges in order to fit a political agenda. No one is above the law, not even former presidents, but everyone is entitled to equal treatment under the law. The prosecutor’s overreach sets a dangerous precedent for… Read more »

Mr.BD

Hey Wil maybe Romney is trying to make good with the Trump followers. I already know he does not like Trump so why he said anything at all is confusing.

Truthiz1

Romney may be thinking of Bill Clinton who lied under oath, while he was President, about a private sexual matter he was involved in during his presidency and was never formally charged with a felony (perjury).

But here’s what even Romney doesn’t acknowledge…

House Repubs at that time deliberately went after Clinton and tried to impeach him and have him thrown out of office behind that private sexual matter.

Thankfully the Senate stopped that madness dead in its tracks.

Also, did anyone notice the huge MAGA turnout? / being facetious

No. Neither did I.

The biggest crowd was the media and then New Yorkers who can’t stand Trump or his minions. They sent MGT running scared back to her SUV and back to whatever swamp she camp from.

Truthiz1

Ooops! I meant to say MTG.

Mr.BD

Lol that MAGA rally was a joke. They ran MTG right out of New York. Then Alexandria Cortez Ocasio tweeted to her welcome to NY.

Mr.BD

I was watching CNN last night and they were saying a lot of people think the case is weak. I hope they are wrong because if they lose right off the bat that will be bad for all the other cases coming.

Truthiz1

BD I don’t think they mean weak, as in Braggs can get a conviction. I think they mean these are the weaker charges to hit Trump with which means if/when he’s convicted he’ll do little to no time.

The majority of Americans want to see him charged with more serious charges. Lord knows he’s committed more serious crimes! And if he’s convicted of any of those, his evil azz will do serious time.

Sidenote: Off topic for just a minute….

Did anyone happen to hear about the results of Wisconsin’s Supreme Court election yesterday? I did.

The MAGA Repub (man) got blown out by the Democrat (woman). A woman’s Right to choose what to do with her own body in that state was the main driving issue and Clear message was sent.

Repubs want to continue playing this evil azz game??? Okaay!
