Trump Case Considered Weak, Says Experts
Donald Trump had his day in court on Tuesday in New York City. So, how strong does the Trump case look against ‘The Donald?’ Not good, say legal experts.
Top News Today :
A somber and pensive Trump entered the courtroom in New York City on Tuesday morning after being arrested on 34 counts related to illegal business practices including paying hush money to porn star Stormy Daniels. However, he emerged buoyant after reading the specifics of the charges levied against him.
According to the San Francisco Chronicle: “The indictment of former President Donald Trump by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg represents a sad example of a publicity-hungry prosecutor chasing headlines rather than charging a criminal case that can be proved beyond a reasonable doubt.”
Interestingly, multiple former members of the Manhattan District Attorney’s office and other legal experts agreed that the Trump case is extremely weak and believe that although it is almost certainly a misdemeanor, it fails to rise to the level of a felony.
“The question to ask yourself in a case like this [is], ‘Would a case like this be brought against anybody else, whether he or she be president, former president or a regular citizen?’ The answer is… no,” former Whitewater deputy counsel Sol Wisenberg said.
“You can debate all day long whether or not… Trump should be indicted related to the records at Mar-a-Lago, whether or not he should be indicted with respect to Jan. 6 incitement of lawless activity… Those are real crimes if they occurred, and he committed them,” Wisenberg sad.
“This is preposterous,” he added.
However, The New York Times countered with the belief that the case is strong.
“With the release of the indictment and accompanying statement of facts, we can now say that there’s nothing novel or weak about this case. The charge of creating false financial records is constantly brought by Mr. Bragg and other New York D.A.s. In particular, the creation of phony documentation to cover up campaign finance violations has been repeatedly prosecuted in New York. That is exactly what Mr. Trump stands accused of,” The Times wrote in an op-ed piece on Tuesday.
Still, some political analysts believe that although the historic Trump case against a former US president could potentially fail, its purpose may not have been designed as a “slam dunk.”
With pending cases against ‘The Donald’ including his attempt to “find” votes in Georgia, his instigation of the January 6th Capitol Hill insurrection, stolen classified documents stored at his home, and more, the “gotcha” Trump case could be one to come and not the one currently in the news.
Is the New York case merely the first shoe to drop in a series of cases against Donald Trump? Or, is Donald Trump about to sidestep yet another legal close call?

Is the Trump case a weak and pending failure?
We won’t know for awhile if this case is weak or strong. But I’m hopeful it proves to be the first shoe to drop.
I’m really looking at Georgia, which I believe would be a strong case. And then to a much lesser degree, the DOJ.
So far Garland appears to be too afraid to hold Trump accountable for the Jan. 6th riot. But we’ll see.
