Trump COVID Scare Was Worse Than We Knew
The Donald Trump COVID scare was not only worse than we all knew but was reportedly life-threatening at one point.
Current Events
In an article from The Washington Post, Donald Trump’s case of the coronavirus was much more severe than The White House let on. In fact, several administration officials were concerned that he could end up on a respirator and possibly die.
So, how did the Trump COVID scare get to such dire straits? Donald Trump himself and his ignorant resistance to science and facts, that’s how.
On September 26th, Trump hosted a White House party to announce Amy Coney Barrett as his pick for Supreme Court justice. The celebration on the South Lawn was filled with dozens of maskless attendees and continued indoors, where nearly everyone remained maskless. Although the coronavirus was running rampant and killing tens of thousands at the time, Trump had an unnatural disdain for face coverings. He created a “No Masks” unofficial White House policy and regularly ordered aides who wore them in his presence to take them off. He even instructed his COVID task force medical experts to remove their masks during press conferences with him.
The day after the Amy Coney Barrett party, Trump hosted Gold Star military families at the White House. At his insistence, nearly everyone was instructed to remove their masks. However, when ‘The Donald’ realized the guests were packed in a bit too tight for his comfort, he didn’t worry about anyone else getting sick. He worried about himself. In fact, Trump wondered why his staff had allowed people to get so close to him? “If these guys had COVID, I’m going to get it because they were all over me,” he told aides.
Two days later, Trump flew to Cleveland for the first presidential debate against Joe Biden. He appeared erratic the entire evening and seemed to deteriorate as the night went on. Almost 48 hours later, he was diagnosed with COVID — and so were Melania Trump and their son, Baron.
The WaPo referenced the new book “Nightmare Scenario: Inside the Trump Administration’s Response to the Pandemic That Changed History,” which was published on June 29th by HarperCollins for more of the story.
FDA Commissioner Stephen Hahn received an urgent appeal from a top White House official requesting immediate authorization for a monoclonal antibody. The call was bizarre since the FDA commissioner is rarely contacted directly — particularly when it concerns an unapproved drug designed for patients dealing with a life-threatening illness. The White House pressed Hahn to give his approval within hours and Hahn, who did not know who the authorization was for, consulted career officials. Colleagues recommended that he go by the book, put safety above all, and say no — until he learned that the authorization was for Donald Trump.
Trump was in the highest-risk category for severe disease from Covid-19. He was 74, rarely exercised, and was considered medically obese. Because of all the factors not in his favor, the FDA made the emergency decision to authorize Regeneron (or Regen-Cov) and remdesivir for the man considered the leader of the free world.
On Friday, Trump’s first night in the hospital was touch and go. In fact, his brush with severe illness and the prospect of death caught the White House so unprepared that they failed to brief Vice President Mike Pence on a plan to swear him in if Trump became incapacitated. However, the urgency subsided by Saturday when Trump began feeling a bit better. Regeneron (which was not available to everyday Americans) and the other experimental drugs had effectively saved his life.
By Sunday, Trump made the decision to leave the hospital and stage a movie-like return to The White House to bolster his lie that masks were unnecessary and COVID was beatable. However, when the very orange and heavily made-up Trump landed on the South Lawn Monday evening for his pretend victory lap, news cameras captured him shaking and experiencing labored breathing. Clearly, he wasn’t well — but since everything is a reality show with him, he had to pretend that he was.
For months, Donald Trump taunted the virus, mocked safety protocols, held big rallies with tens of thousands of adoring fans, and regularly packed The White House with maskless guests. However, only a month before the election, the virus that had already killed more than 200,000 Americans had sickened the most powerful person on the planet.
Despite his claims to the contrary, COVID was real.
Well now hold on DJ….there you go again being much too umm…considerate. 🙂
As I recall, WE (you and your readers) strongly suspected that Trump was sicker at the time than he and his flunkies were reporting. In fact, We brought up the likelihood that Trump had left the hospital AMA (against medical advice) in an effort to keep up the APPEARANCE that he wasn’t that ill.
But we knew better. We knew that he (and his people) were LYING, including that clown of a doctor at the hospital they kept trotting out to the media to back up the lie.
We even mentioned how labored Trump’s breathing was during his pathetic “look at me I’m just fine” dog and pony show on the White House balcony immediately upon his return from the hospital.
