From baseless court cases to multiple recounts to acts of intimidation and attempts to strongarm election officials into handing him a win, Donald Trump has run into one brick wall of defeat after another. Now, finally, it’s over!
Last week, Trump telephoned Georgia’s Gov. Brian Kemp and blatantly demanded that he reverse the election results and cheat on his behalf. He was refused.
Over the weekend, ‘The Donald’ turned his efforts to Pennsylvania’s Republican House speaker and pressured him to overturn the results of his state. He was swiftly dismissed.
This week, Trump and the Pennsylvania Republican Party petitioned the US Supreme Court to overturn the election results in that state. On Tuesday night, the 9 justices collectively issued a one-sentence ruling: Request denied.
There were no dissents.

“Free, fair elections are the lifeblood of our democracy,” said US Circuit Court Judge Stephanos Bibas. “Charges of unfairness are serious. But calling an election unfair does not make it so. Charges require specific allegations and then proof. We have neither here.

If all that wasn’t already enough, the clock has simply run out on the Trump election challenges.
On Tuesday night, the US reached what is known as the “safe harbor” deadline. This is the date where all state-level election challenges, including recounts and audits, are required to be completed. The Trump campaign failed to provide any legitimate legal challenge against any state certification, which clears the way for the Electoral College to officially declare Joe Biden the winner when they meet on Monday, December 14th.
The many Donald Trump election challenges have been nothing more than an attempted coup on democracy and a ploy to seize the presidency for his own personal gain. Thankfully, government and election officials stayed strong. Democracy prevailed. The US Supreme Court upheld the law.
“Madness,” Romney told reporters on Tuesday. “This is madness. We have a process. Recounts are appropriate. Going to the court is appropriate. Pursuing every legal avenue is appropriate. But trying to get electors not to do what the people voted to do is madness.” – The Hill, 12-9-20
