Don’t look now, but Donald Trump is quietly preparing to dismantle democracy in 2024 by installing Trump election fixers in key states in order to guarantee the results go his way the next time around.

Donald Trump lost the 2020 election by failing to carry the states of Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Wisconsin. He also surprisingly lost the traditionally Republican states of Arizona and Georgia, which sealed the deal for him to return to private life. Trump went on to file frivolous lawsuits in the hopes of overturning several states’ results and even attempted to strongarm the Secretaries of State in Arizona and Georgia to “find” him the votes he needed for victory or refuse to certify Joe Biden as the legitimate winner.
Now, according to CNN, Donald Trump is already busy in Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, and other swing states making sure his own hand-picked ‘Trump election fixers’ are responsible for running the 2024 election from beginning to end. By ensuring his own flunkies are in charge of counting the votes and eventually certifying the results, Trump is banking on flipping off democracy, subverting the will of the voters, and cheating his way to a guaranteed victory.
Last week, Trump endorsed state Rep. Mark Finchem for Arizona secretary of state. In case you’re unaware, Finchem is a devout promoter of QAnon conspiracy theories and has perpetuated the lie that the 2020 election was stolen from Trump and was rife with “rampant” fraud. Additionally, he participated in the January 6th “Stop the Steal” attack on Capitol Hill and continues to urge Arizona legislators to overturn Joe Biden’s victory in the state.
Another of the Trump election fixers ‘The Donald’ is attempting to cement into place is Georgia congressman Jody Hice over incumbent Republican Brad Raffensperger (who has repeatedly dismissed Trump’s orders to break the law by refusing to certify Biden’s Georgia win). Trump is also backing Republican activist Kristina Karamo in Michigan who announced last week that she is “strong on Crime, including the massive Crime of Election Fraud.”
“It is incredibly dangerous to support people for office who do not accept the legitimacy of the 2020 election. It suggests that they might be willing to bend or break the rules when it comes to running elections and counting votes in the future,” said Rick Hasen, a professor of law and political science and co-director of the Fair Elections and Free Speech Center at the University of California, Irvine.
“Someone who claims falsely that the 2020 election was stolen from Trump lacks credibility and cannot be trusted to run a fair election.”
And therein lies the point. Donald Trump does not want a fair election conducted in a democratic manner. He only wants what HE wants and what is best for HIMSELF — and that is a return to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue by any means necessary.
