President Donald Trump on Wednesday vetoed the National Defense Authorization Act, a $741 billion national security package that would raise troops’ pay, direct the purchase of weapons and set military policies because it does not include provisions that he wanted. 

The move is unlikely to stop the NDAA from being enacted. The Senate passed the bill 84-13, well past the two-thirds necessary to veto-proof legislation. The House also passed the bill overwhelmingly. The bill is expected to retain veto-proof support in the wake of Trump’s decision. 

“I am returning, without my approval, H.R. 6395 … My Administration recognizes the importance of the Act to our national security. Unfortunately, the Act fails to include critical national security measures, includes provisions that fail to respect our veterans and our military’s history, and contradicts efforts by my Administration to put America first in our national security and foreign policy actions. It is a ‘gift’ to China and Russia,” the president wrote.

Trump had tweeted his intention to veto multiple times.

And let’s also add – it takes some attention away from those 20 reprehensible pardons he granted last night.

The guy knows how to play the American news media (he always has). While also taking out his wrath on the Repubs in particular.

Two takeaways the media has not given enough attention are the Newsmax admission and the Pat Robertson statement. Granted, Newsmax was sued and forced to admit they had no proof of the claims they were making. Still their disclaimer was huge and may make some realize 45s claims are all a rouse. The Pat Robertson statement was also huge since it signals evangelicals may be pulling away from 45. We’ll have to wait and see how this all plays out in the coming weeks.

I absolutely agree with you BD. You will note in my first sentenced I wrote:

“It’s a sad day when I have to agree with this fool.” (meaning, $600 is a disgrace). Now mind you he DOESN’T give a fig about Us (the American people). It’s about making the leadership of both partiers look like the craven and heartless specs they are …especially Mitch McConnell.”

Truth this clown is not trying to help anybody but himself. If he wanted everybody to get more money he could have said something when they were in talks about it. But he said nothing. He is a con man so there has to be some angle for him doing this now. But whatever it is he is doing it for him and nobody else.
