Trump Inauguration Set For Entertainment Failure

Trump Inauguration Set
For Entertainment Failure
Congratulations are in order for Donald Trump. After initially failing to get ANY entertainers to agree to perform for the Trump Inauguration, the list of stars slated to showcase their musical talents has now grown to a whopping THREE!
.
Entertainment
To date, Kid Rock, Ted Nugent, and a little girl chosen to sing The National Anthem are the ONLY performers willing to entertain the Trump’s. Oh, Donald — to think you actually believed Elton John, Mick Jagger, and a host of other A-list performers would actually work for you. SMH
After sending out Trump Inauguration performance invitations to the showbiz elite, planners were shocked to learn no one was interested. According to The Wrap, planners were so desperate in recent days, they even offered to pay top-dollar to any A or even B-list performer who’d be willing to entertain. This is important, since traditionally, no president has ever had to pay anyone to perform for inaugural festivities. The honor of being able to perform for the new President of the United States and his family has always been payment enough — until now.
One such music mogul who was offered big bucks to help rescue the Trump Inauguration is producer David Foster (Barbra Streisand, Michael Bublé, Celine Dion, Josh Groban), who, like all the others before him, offered Trump a polite but forceful “No Thank You!”
“Woke up this morning to a lot of news,” Foster posted on Instagram last Saturday. “For the record, I was asked to participate in the upcoming inauguration some time ago and I politely and respectfully declined. Any news outlet that is reporting otherwise is misinformed.”
Awww…
According to Simon Renshaw, manager of The Dixie Chicks, anyone taking part in the Trump Inauguration could be committing career suicide.
“If anyone does do it, I hope that the check that they get is in the nine figures. Because it’s probably the last check they’re ever going to get,” he said.
If that’s not enough, the Trump Inauguration team is also finding it next to impossible to locate marching bands and other acts willing to participate in the inaugural parade.
In what has become a long-standing local tradition, a marching band from a local public school in Washington, DC has always had a spot reserved for them in the parade. These bands have performed over the last 5 presidential terms, regardless of the Commander-In-Chief’s political affiliation. However, that was then and this is now, as local schools have claimed everything from budget restrictions to lost applications just to get out of participating in the Trump Inauguration.
The Howard University Marching Band, which also usually participates in the inaugural festivities, has also decided to sit this year out. Band Director, John Newson, commented on the silence and excuses from the local schools.
“I think everybody knows why (bands are backing out) and no one wants to say and lose their job,” Newson said.
Several schools in neighboring Virginia have also rejected the opportunity to perform for Trump.

Unlike in previous years, when the requests to perform at the inauguration were in abundance, The Presidential Inaugural Committee has refused to comment this year on the number of performance applications received, simply because there weren’t many. In fact, the application deadline was even extended by a full week, in the hopes of gaining more replies. Sadly, it didn’t help.
Luke Wiscombe, marketing director at Music Celebrations International has described the response to the Trump Inauguration by the entertainment community as “crickets.”
“We didn’t get the response that we got the last time, with Obama. Some groups responded, but with some groups (this year), it was crickets, ”Wiscombe said.
“It’s embarrassing that Trump cannot get an adult to perform the National Anthem, and is unable to recruit children to play in their bands for him,” Occupy Democrats recently published. “This is by far the most disliked president; no one able to reasonably think for themselves wants anything to do with Donald Trump. His inauguration will no doubt be a hate-filled disaster and with his far right supporters clashing with protesters, he is almost guaranteed to be inaugurated in front of a nation, both divided and violent.”
Ouch!
Setting aside the Dixie Chicks (because frankly those ladies proved years ago they have the Courage to speak out against war-mongers and hate-mongers) I must admit, I'm a bit surprised that other popular country music artists apparently are NOT willing to be a a part of this!?!
I'm also surprised that Kanye hasn't signed on yet.
Hmmm.,,,, Wow,
Hey Truth, Kanye is too busy trying to fake being crazy to perform for Trump, so he can get paid that 10 million insurance money from canceled shows. Even though he is crazy he is smart enough to know not to mess up his money.
Tru dat BD…..Lol. Tru dat!
This unpatriotic response to celebrate the inauguration of ou next President reminds me of the Biblical parable of the man who invites persons he calls friends to his party. When they decline he invites all those who have not received invitations. Im sure there are many besides these "elitists" who would be happy to share their their talents. Who needs these ego- inflated has beens anyway!
So when a performer doesn't want to or can't perform on inaguratio day that makes them unpatriotic? And you really think Elton John, the Rolling stones, Bruno Mars are has beens? LOL oh brother you Trump people are just too crazy!
You're all a bunch of losers and cowards. That's why we need Trump in office. Just proves the lewedness of the Democrats and low life public. Grow up!!
Too much disrespect in our country. People should be proud to perform but then again they are fearful of not being popular? Plain old BS. The are not worth eat in or heading anyway.
Oops, hearing. Mostly noise. Trully good performers don't rely on all that background noise. As a professional music major I'd like to hear the lyrics and not just the overkill sound track. Trump is not missing a thing. No rebuttal can change the truth which does hurt all you fanatics.
Seriously who cares about the stage acts. They have little to do with the inauguration, the ceremony will go on with or without them. Why people even care who is doing the entertainment to fill in breaks seems silly.
…(thinking to myself)…..
So apparently some of his supporters really ARE taking this rejection of their guy pretty hard!?!
Indeed.
…(also thinking to myself)…..
And still trying to bait us into a verbal. fight….smh. Kinda sad.

And since pretty much NO "A list" celebrity has (thus far) signed on to be part of his inauguration….
Trump now says: "I don't want celebrities at the inauguration"
President-elect Donald Trump claims he doesn’t want celebrities at his inauguration, tweeting Thursday night that he wants “the people” to intend the event instead.
“The so-called "A" list celebrities are all wanting tixs to the inauguration, but look what they did for Hillary, NOTHING. I want the PEOPLE!” he tweeted.
His tweet appears to be a defense against claims that the president-elect can’t book notable talent for his inauguration in January. In November, Elton John’s publicist said that the singer won’t perform after a Trump adviser said he would. And earlier this week, tenor Andrea Bocelli, who was reported to be in the inauguration line-up, stated he won’t be performing at the event. The Presidential Inauguration Committee chair, however, said that Trump turned down Bocelli's tentative offer to sing.
So far, 16-year-old “America’s Got Talent” star Jackie Evancho is the only solo performer confirmed to be performing at the inauguration. The Mormon Tabernacle Choir and the Radio City Rockettes are also slated to perform. […] Politico
Politico Reader:
"Remember the Republican Convention and Trumps promises that it would be a 'star-studded event'? It actually had all the charm and elan of the final days of a death cult. This inauguration will be so much worse."
TMZ:
There's a secret scare in the music world over Donald Trump's inauguration … some singers and bands want to perform but they're getting cold feet because they're worried it will hurt their career.
Sources in the music industry connected with people who have been "on the list" tell us … some of the singers and groups have floated rumors they might perform to judge the public reaction … which by and large has scared them into running for the hills instead of towards the Hill.
We're told trial balloons were floated by at least 4 camps … we're told everyone's so scared of the backlash the camps will never admit they've even entertained the prospect of singing at the inauguration … they're all so worried it will negatively impact the artists' careers.
It's a sea change from every other inauguration. Up to now it didn't matter if it was a Dem or a Republican … there were enough big stars willing to perform it wasn't a problem.
Lol Alex Baldwin said this on twitter: I wanna perform at Trump’s inauguration.
I wanna sing HIGHWAY TO HELL https://youtu.be/l482T0yNkeo

"Rebecca Ferguson will sing at Donald Trump's inauguration under one condition"
British The X-Factor alum Rebecca Ferguson is the latest artist to be approached to perform at President-elect Donald Trump’s upcoming inauguration.
And while many have declined with little more than a “No,” Ferguson has released a statement saying that she would, in fact, appear on Jan. 20 under one condition: That she could sing the 1937 protest song “Strange Fruit.”
“If you allow me to sing ‘strange fruit’ a song that has huge historical importance, a song that was blacklisted in the United States for being too controversial,” Ferguson wrote in a statement posted to Twitter. “A song that speaks to all the disregarded and down trodden black people in the United States. A song that is a reminder of how love is the only thing that will conquer all the hatred in this world. Then I will graciously accept your invitation and see you in Washington.”
Most famously performed by Billie Holiday, “Strange Fruit” was written in 1937 by Abel Meeropol, a New York City teacher, protesting racism in the United States. Specifically, it decried the horrors of lynching African Americans. It has since been recorded and performed by dozens more artists, from Herbie Hancock and Marcus Miller to Nina Simone. "Marching band at historically black college to perform at inauguration, sparking controversy"
The marching band of Alabama’s oldest private, historically black liberal arts college has accepted an invitation to perform at President-elect Donald Trump’s inaugural parade, organizers said.
Talladega College’s band will march at Trump’s inauguration as other historically black schools such as Howard University, which performed at President Barack Obama’s first inaugural parade, said they won’t be marching in the Jan. 20 event.
“We were a bit horrified to hear of the invitation,” said Shirley Ferrill of Fairfield, Alabama, a member of Talladega’s Class of 1974.
“I don’t want my alma mater to give the appearance of supporting him,” Ferrill said of Trump on Monday. “Ignore, decline or whatever, but please don’t send our band out in our name to do that.”
The move has lit up Talladega College’s social media sites with a sharp debate about the band’s decision to participate in the parade. Some people voiced strong opposition, while others support the band’s participation.
“After how black people were treated at Trump’s rallies, you’re going to go and shuck and jive down Pennsylvania Avenue? For what?” Seinya SamForay said in an interview. “What they did is a slap in the face to other black universities.”
Many on Twitter also shared their feelings on the matter.
SamForay, of Chicago, was among dozens of people commenting on the school’s social media sites.
The Presidential Inaugural Committee announced Friday that the Talladega College Marching Tornadoes was among 40 groups, including high school bands and military organizations, scheduled to perform in the parade. Some members of the Marist College band in upstate New York, also scheduled to perform at the inauguration, say they won’t participate, a school spokesman said Monday.
Ron White of Atlanta, a 1997 graduate of another historically black college, Fort Valley State University in Georgia, said he questioned why band members from Talladega “should be playing all these patriotic tunes for someone who has degraded us.”
At the same time, though, White said he respects the office of the president and he hopes that Talladega’s band does well. […] – CBSNews.com

AP FACT CHECK: Album sales not up much despite Trump tweet
NEW YORK — President-elect Donald Trump tweeted Wednesday that the album sales of Jackie Evancho, the teenage classical singer, have "skyrocketed" since the announcement that she would perform at his inauguration.
Not exactly, according to sales figures.
According to Nielsen Music, which tracks album sales, Evancho sold 7,206 albums the week ending on Dec. 15 (she announced she would sing the national anthem at the Inauguration on Dec. 14). The following week, which ended on Dec. 22, Evancho sold 13,788 albums, and the week after, ending on Dec. 29, the 16-year-old sold 11,096 albums.
While some of the credit may be due to the announcement about the performance at the inauguration, Evancho's sales could simply be a result of the holidays: She released a new album, "Someday at Christmas," on Oct. 28, and she has other holiday albums in her catalog. And not surprisingly, holiday albums tend to sell particularly well during the holidays.
Her overall album sales, however, remain low. The top-selling album for the weeks ending on Dec. 22 and Dec. 29 was a cappella group Pentatonix's "A Pentatonix Christmas," which sold 206,000 and 101,000 equivalent albums, respectively. [….] MSN.com
Seriously, I'm thinking – if this clown couldn't straight up LIE, exaggerate or make isht up outta whole cloth, he'd probably rarely say anything at all.

Here's a rather interesting story that's getting a lot of attention this morning on several social-political blogs.
Re: "Demand Protest" – Part l
Apparently, in the lead up to Trump's inauguration an organization called "Demand Protests" was created to hire people to go and protest whatever cause or event the contract was assigned to:.
As per the *Demand Protest* website:
"When you need the appearance of outrage, we are able to deliver it at scale while keeping your reputation intact” — under the heading “Unassailable Authenticity."
Demand Protest, a San Francisco company that bills itself as the “largest private grassroots support organization in the United States,” posted identical ads Jan. 12 in multiple cities on Backpage.com seeking “operatives.”
The ads read: “Get paid fighting against Trump!”
“We pay people already politically motivated to fight for the things they believe. You were going to take action anyways, why not do so with us!” the ad continues. “We are currently seeking operatives to help send a strong message at upcoming inauguration protests.”
…So why am I sharing all this with you? …..
Because Demand Protests was supposedly "proof that dissent against Trump was manufactured by shady leftist organizations, and could be lucrative" Note: "one Backpage.com ad placed in Demand Protest’s name promised a full-time job that paid a $2,500 retainer, plus $50/hr., and benefits."
[ It was the perfect story to share, if you’re inclined to believe that anti-Trump protesters must be getting paid to be there. Something to that effect has long been in the canon of largely unsubstantiated rumors circulating on the Trump Internet. A well-known fake news writer even fabricated an “interview” with a protester who said he was paid $3,500 to protest at a Trump rally — a story that was shared on Twitter by Trump’s then-campaign manager. And like that made-up story, it also appears that Demand Protest is a made-up group, one that fooled quite a few news sources before being dramatically debunked on-air by Tucker Carlson. ]

Re: "Demand Protest" – Conclusion
That's right. The whole thing was hoax.
MSN: "How a hoax website about paid protesters came crumbling down live on TV"
Excerpt:
Here’s an incomplete look at how we got here: a few days ago, the Gateway Pundit wrote a piece titled “BREAKING: Far Left Group Is Paying Activists a Monthly Salary to Stop TRUMP,” and cited 4Chan in mentioning a possible link between Demand Protest and George Soros. InfoWars was a bit more skeptical, hedging their story on Demand Protest as a “report” and writing that “it’s unclear if the DemandProtest.com website is actually legitimate.” The Washington Times also credulously reported on the Backpage ads. Breitbart, meanwhile, used the ads as evidence in an article that suggested that fears of pro-Trump inauguration violence was “fake news.”
“The facts tell a different story,” the Breitbart article says. “The left is gearing up for war, and hiring mercenaries.”
Other sites, like The Federalist Papers, helped to feed the story into the hyperpartisan Facebook ecosystem. It made it to the Drudge Report.
All this happened with no evidence to support claims that Demand Protest actually did anything it advertised on its website — the existence of a backpage ad, which pretty much anyone can create and place, was it.
The anonymous testimonials from some of Demand Protest’s supposed clients came from an unnamed U.S. presidential campaign and an unnamed public health nonprofit. It claimed to have more than 1,800 well-paid operatives working for them. In the Backpage ads, the group says it’s the “largest private grassroots support organization in the United States,” which seems … implausible. [….]
So how was the hoax uncovered?
Believe it or not – Tucker Carlson at FOX News did the honors on LIVE TV. And if you're inclined to watch the LIVE take-down, please DO check out the video:
