A still COVID-infected Donald Trump is back to his old ways, holding a Trump Superspreader Event on Saturday on the South Lawn of The White House.
Politics
Only 2 weeks after hosting a White House party for Supreme Court nominee Amy Coney Barrett that left 34 guests, West Wing staffers, and employees positive for COVID-19 and himself hospitalized with the virus, there was Donald Trump — holding court on the 2nd-floor balcony of The White House for yet another Trump Superspreader Event. Apparently, the call of a live audience cheering his name and hanging on his every word was just too powerful for the egotistical Trump to go without for too long. So, despite the fact that he’d only been out of hospital for a mere 5 days, admitted on Fox News that he didn’t know if he was still positive or negative, and was very likely continuing to shed virus, the defiant Trump was Trump and did what he wanted no matter if it affected others or not.
Saturday’s Trump Superspreader Event was billed as somewhat of a “party” for the group “BLEXIT,” which was founded by conservative operative Candace Owens to encourage African-Americans to leave the Democratic Party. However, once television cameras captured a sea of black and brown people lined up to enter the White House grounds, it was clear this was just another Trump political rally designed to pander to Black and Hispanic voters in time for November 3rd.
Interestingly, ABC News is reporting that Owens’ organization paid the black and brown attendees just to make Donald Trump look good.
Trump began his “law-and-order” remarks with a boatload of falsehoods and divisiveness, claiming erroneously that if elected, Joe Biden would take away firearms, funds, and authority from the police. It then spiraled into his usual greatest hits talking points he frequently performs for his base while on the road.
Still, the sight of so many young black and brown people being used as props for a Trump Superspreader Event (and likely campaign ad) was daunting, particularly since The White House is currently a COVID hotspot and a ghost town due to all of the sick staffers who’ve been staying home under quarantine.
“The images we are seeing are absolutely extraordinary,” said Dr. Jeremy Faust of the Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston regarding the attendees who were closely packed together. “To literally draw (Black and Latino activists) into the White House, to a hot zone, is extraordinarily inept in terms of public policy and public health … If you believe nuclear power is safe, you don’t go and have a picnic at Chernobyl the next day to prove that point.”
However, that is the Donald Trump the world has come to know. He picks an opinion then stays with it no matter how wrong or dangerous or deadly it may be.
With only 24 days left until an election that he is now on course to severely lose, ‘The Donald’ and his Trump rally-in-disguise was a pathetic revelation of a sick and broke man who’s grasping at straws to save himself from the public embarrassment of being seen a loser, going to jail, and still owing someone $400 million in past-due loans.
Although he called Black Lives Matter a “racist” and “very bad term for blacks,” Donald Trump conveniently skipped over discussing on Saturday the White militia group that attempted to kidnap Michigan’s Gov. Gretchen Whitmer. He’s also never once publicly mentioned his old pal Chris Christie, who contracted coronavirus after helping ‘The Donald’ prep for the Biden debate and was hospitalized and in serious condition until Saturday.
Is there any wonder why so many are so anxious to get this man out of the Oval Office ASAP?
Ya know (sigh) I want to feel sorry for the poor saps (Trump voters) because I truly believe one of the main reasons he appeals to them is they connect with him on an intellectual and developmental level, meaning (like him) they are “slow,” gullible and easily bamboozled.
Over the past few days THIS story was actually confirmed: “Trump reportedly wanted to rip open his button-down to reveal a Superman T-shirt to surprise people when he left the hospital” – Business Insider, 10-10-20
You cannot make this stuff up. Like their leader, most of them are problematic children in grown-up bodies and I want to feel sorry for them. But I can’t.
I’ll just continue to pray for the rest of Us.
