Trump’s Truth Social Network Is An Epic Failure!

Surprise! Surprise! Donald Trump’s TRUTH SOCIAL network is an epic failure!

Everything Donald Trump has in his homes and hotels may be plated with gold — but everything he touches is certainly far from gold. Such is the case with Trump’s TRUTH SOCIAL, a network that was created to (supposedly) rival Facebook and Twitter after ‘The Donald’ was kicked off both networks following the January 6, 2021, Capitol Hill riot. Trump expected his MAGA sycophants and QAnon fanatics to flock to his new social network and leave Facebook and Twitter to collapse as punishment for banning him. Too bad things have just not worked out the way he intended.

During last week’s Conservative Political Action Conference in Florida, there was hardly any mention of Trump’s TRUTH SOCIAL network by conservatives or even Trump himself. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia name-dropped the network once while Trump mentioned the app in passing only a few times. Other than that, the buzz was all but non-existent.

“Other than [Trump], what makes a platform compelling enough to come back over and over again? How is it different than Twitter and Parler?” a Republican digital strategist, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, said of the social network.

So, why is TRUTH SOCIAL such a colossal dud? Aside from the fact it’s a Donald Trump creation that even he himself rarely uses or even attempts to promote, the reality is that MAGA conservatives prefer to argue with others on Twitter instead of gather with like-minded fanatics on Trump’s network.

“The fun of Twitter is that you can have that interaction with many different communities,” bitcoin investor and Trump supporter Erik Finman said.

So, what went wrong?

Somehow, Donald Trump convinced himself that all he needed to do was put his name on a social network and it would become an instant runaway hit. Instead, not only has Trump himself only posted 1 “Truth” on his own network, but Donald Jr., Eric, Ivanka, and Tiffany Trump never bothered to create accounts on the network. Even Melania Trump announced that she will be making another platform Parler” her “social media home.”

Now, Trump has begun to complain about the bad press and “less-than-stellar optics” his network is getting. Too bad for him, but TRUTH SOCIAL has been an unmitigated disaster from Day 1.

On the day it launched, would-be users were hit with numerous glitches and outrageously long wait times. Some were forwarded to an “access denied” error page. A reporter from Business Insider had to attempt the initial email-confirmation process five times before being able to create an account. Of the users who were actually able to create accounts, many were told they’d been placed on a waitlist of what appeared to be more than 100,000 people. Next, the app went partially dark for more than 12 hours due to “application launch traffic.“ 

The failure of Trump’s TRUTH SOCIAL network is no surprise once anyone takes a look at the data. According to The Daily Beast, the company’s figures for the MAGA social network are…anemic. TRUTH SOCIAL is doing either worse or the same as other MAGA social sites including Gab (another pro-Trump competitor website that’s especially beloved by Nazis) and Gettr (a platform fronted by one of Trump’s former top political aides).  Although the network spiked with around 2 million daily visits when it first debuted, it has since dipped to a pathetic 300,000 visits each day. In comparison, the far-right Gab has averaged around 650,000 daily average visits in the same time period. 

To put it another way, Truth Social was the 72nd most popular free app in Apple’s AppStore as of late last week — nowhere near competitors Facebook (5th) and Twitter (22). Additionally, the average visitor to Trump’s site stays for only 90 seconds, which is a far cry from the 7 minutes users tend to spend on Gettr and 9 minutes spent on Gab.

Or, in other words, the real truth is that Trump’s TRUTH SOCIAL media network is on track to be a bigger flop than Trump Steaks, Trump Vodka, and the Trump Taj Mahal combined. And despite ‘The Donald’ and his famously loose grasp on reality, he apparently knows it!
