TUBELESS TOILET TISSUE
Environmentalists are gonna love this one. Introducing SCOTT NATURALS: the tubeless toilet tissue.
Kimberly-Clark, the maker of Scott’s brand toilet tissue, has announced their new product that will no longer come with a completely round cylinder inside the center of rolls, yet will still fit on existing toilet paper bars. According to the manufacturer, customers will now be able to use every inch of tissue down to the last square, which will no longer be glued to a cardboard tube.
This is excellent news for green enthusiasts, who are concerned with the nearly 17 billion discardable cardboard tubes (with wasted pieces of tissue stuck to it) produced annually in the United States, which creates 160 million pounds of avoidable trash.
Kimberly-Clark representative Doug Daniels says he “won’t disclose the tubeless technology used,” but assured “it’s a special winding process. A similar process is used on tissue the company sells to businesses but not to consumers.” The new eco-friendly toilet paper will go on sale at Walmarts and Sam’s Clubs across the Northeast United States starting today. If it sells well, it will expand nationally, then perhaps globally. And if that goes well, the company may even expand the technology to paper towel too. Well, bring it on!
