He also fought to defend this country in WW II. DJ:“But despite all his gallantry, this recipient of the Distinguished Flying Cross found that when he returned home in 1945, nothing seemed to have changed in American society.”Sadly, after the war, my grandfather (who was from Alabama- born and raised) returned home to that same UGLY reality and shortly, thereafter, he decided to leave the South (during the great Black migration), headed North determined to find better job opportunities and an improved way of life. By the grace of God, he found both.May Mr. Archer, my grandfather, and all the other fine men of that generation who are no longer with us…..…..Rest in Peace.
