Held at the Mississippi Boulevard Christian Church in Memphis, Tennessee, the celebration included words from Vice President Kamala Harris, attorney Ben Crump, and Rev. Al Sharpton. Additionally, the sisters, brothers, and parents of Tyre Nichols also provided remarks.
“My brother was robbed of his life, his passions, and his talents, but not his light,” sister Keyana Dixon, said.
“I see the world showing him love and fighting for his justice, but all I want is my baby brother back,” she said while expressing feelings of “anger,” “deep sorrow” and “pain.”
“My family will never be the same, and I will just always love my baby brother, forever,” she added.
Rev. Al Sharpton called Tyre Nichols “a symbol for justice all over this country.”
“I believe that babies unborn will know about Tyre Nichols because we won’t let his memory die,” he said. “We’re going to change this country because we refuse to keep living under the threat of the cops and the robbers.”
Vice President Harris exclaimed that “Tyre Nichols should’ve been safe.”
“This violent act was not in pursuit of public safety. Was he not also entitled to the right to be safe?” she asked.

The Tyre Nichols funeral celebration.
Thanks for this DJ.
I watched a bit of it yesterday in real time. The service actually started a bit late due to the wintry weather (including icy road conditions) they were dealing with.
The words that really struck me is the heartfelt sentiment expressed by his sister Keyana and highlighted in DJ’s post:
“My brother was robbed of his life, his passions, and his talents, but not his light,”
And let the Church say Amen!
