US Government Shutdown: The Real Consequences

Spread The Love

It’s Day 35 of the US Government shutdown and an end is nowhere in sight. However, Donald Trump and his Republican cronies are proving just how out of touch they are with the realities of how the shutdown is affecting the real lives of real people.

Current Events
Currently, 800,000 federal workers are victims of the US Government shutdown and are missing their 2nd payday as of today. Most of those workers have been living paycheck to paycheck and are now finding themselves facing eviction from their homes and in line at food banks just to feed their families.

However, Trump and his people oddly believe this is all just a harmless game that will eventually blow over.

US Government Shutdown
L to R: Kevin Hassett, Lara Trump, Wilbur Ross

For example, White House economic adviser Kevin Hassett said last week that furloughed federal workers who are not getting paid during the partial government shutdown are “better off” because they’re getting a free vacation now and not having to waste vacation days later.

Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross said this week he doesn’t understand why federal workers are going to homeless shelters for food when they could simply “take out a loan” to make ends meet.

Then, Trump daughter-in-law Lara Trump called the so-called hardships by federal workers “…a little bit of pain” that workers will eventually agree is a good thing “for the future of our country.”

Talk about out of touch.

As I’ve expressed time and again – there’s just NO level “too low” for Trump and the cast of characters in his world (his 3 oldest kids + Jared, his so-called “friends,” staff and cabinet-members) to go.

Nope. There’s always…ALWAYS…an even lower level that he and they are pleased as punch to sink to.

(sidenote) BREAKING: “Trump ally Roger Stone arrested by FBI”

(AP) – Roger Stone, an adviser to the Trump campaign and self-described political provocateur, was charged Friday with seven criminal counts, including obstruction of justice and witness tampering.

Stone also was charged with making false statements, including those he made to the House Intelligence Committee, according to special counsel Robert Mueller’s office. He was taken into custody by armed agents in a predawn raid at his Fort Lauderdale, FL, home.

Stone is scheduled to make a court appearance later in the day. The long-time Trump ally has been under scrutiny for months, but he has maintained his innocence. […]

Btw- Here’s just a little info on the infamous Israeli wall Trump keeps citing as justification for his wall-fixated madness:

“Israel’s Boarder Walls: A Case Study For Trump’s Mantra”

The “wall” most comparable to what Trump is suggesting is the one along the southern border with Egypt.

That barrier—a “smart” barbed-wire structure equipped with cameras, radar and motion detectors—“was erected to prevent illegal [African] migrants from crossing over a once- porous border into Israel,” Yehuda Ben Meir, head of the National Security and Public Opinion Project at the Tel Aviv-based Institute for National Security Studies, related to The Media Line.

“It was constructed in cooperation with Cairo and includes some military crossing points so that the Israeli and Egyptian armies can collaborate when needed,” he added. […] -The Jerusalem Post

And Israel’s wall is approx 435 miles in total length.
