Vaccine: Donald Trump’s Race To An Electoral Silver Bullet
Since it’s apparent Donald Trump is hell-bent on rushing a COVID-19 vaccine to fruition, will the potential short-term benefits to his re-election hopes spell longterm disaster for the rest of us?
Current Events
It’s a modern-day/real-life version of the old game of “Beat The Clock.” With less than 60 days to go before the November election, Donald Trump recognizes he’s in deep doo-doo. He is severely behind in almost every major political poll nationally. He’s being hit hard from the left, right, and even the US military. He’s also paying a huge political price for ignoring the novel coronavirus in the early days when he could have saved countless lives and prevented the current predicament.
So, what is Donald Trump gambling to bet the farm? A miracle COVID-19 vaccine just in time for election day, that’s what!
At this late stage in the election game, it’s sort of his best hope. Produce a silver bullet to cure the coronavirus and save all of mankind just in time to skid safely into a re-election victory. Sure, making the game-winning touchdown during the Super Bowl or sliding into home base to win Game 7 of the World Series is what hopes and dreams are made of — however, this is more than likely a pipe dream for ‘The Donald.’
The fact that Trump has a penchant for putting his ego and his own needs ahead of everyone else’s couldn’t be more clear now that he’s attempting to race a vaccine through the normal safety protocols and trials.
Will the vaccine be effective? Will there be side-effects or potential risk of death? How will it affect minorities versus children versus the elderly? These are all very valid questions for any vaccine, yet Trump is skipping over all of them for his own political gain.
Regrettably, there will be a price to pay for his need to “Beat The Clock.”
First, if his rushed medical cure doesn’t work or makes matters worse or kills people, the pharmaceutical companies Trump is bullying into action will be hit with a historic myriad of lawsuits. Theoretically, Trump could be responsible for multiple pharma companies going bankrupt.
Next, America has only ONE SHOT at getting this COVID-19 cure right. If they rush a vaccine before it’s ready and it doesn’t work or makes matters worse or kills people, public confidence will be completely shattered and Americans will shut down. This means that whenever a valid vaccine becomes a reality, public mistrust will be high and a vast amount of Americans will simply refuse to get vaccinated.
It’ll be a classic case of “Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on ME!”
Many Americans are already skittish about most vaccines. However, to introduce one that doesn’t work or causes more harm than good would be beyond counterproductive and only prove anti-vaxxers right.
The point here should be to find a viable cure for COVID-19 and get every man, woman, and child vaccinated so that life can go back to normal. Too bad Donald Trump has missed the point and hijacked the issue as a way to salvage his re-election hopes — or, in other words, to do whatever is best for HIMSELF!

(CNN) Drug giant AstraZeneca said Tuesday it had paused global trials of its coronavirus vaccine because of an unexplained illness in one of the volunteers.
It’s a standard precaution in vaccine trials that is meant to ensure experimental vaccines don’t cause serious reactions among participants.”As part of the ongoing randomized, controlled global trials of the Oxford coronavirus vaccine, our standard review process triggered a pause to vaccination to allow review of safety data,” the company said in a statement sent to CNN.
