W. Has Heart Surgery
Former President George W. Bush is resting comfortably after undergoing emergency heart surgery.
On Monday, doctors discovered a blocked artery in W’s heart and scheduled him for preventive surgery. Yesterday, Bush had a stent implanted in the blocked artery, which should open it up and prevent any further complications.
Aides say Bush is in good shape because of early detection.
Bush “is grateful to the skilled medical professionals who have cared for him,” his spokesman Freddy Ford said. “He thanks his family, friends and fellow citizens for their prayers and well wishes.”
Ford added: “And he encourages us all to get our regular check-ups.”
The 67-year-old Bush is expected to be released from hospital today and to resume regular activities as early as tomorrow.
