WATER ON MARS?
It’s the age old question: Is there life on Mars? Well that question has now been at least partially answered, with the discovery of what appears to be water on the red planet.
New photos of Mars reveal images of what appear to be water flowing. NASA scientists say the photos reveal that during warm months on Mars, salty water may be running freely down the planet’s slopes. The scientists say saltwater is the most likely reason for dark streaks to appear on the Martian surface during its warm seasons.
According to Alfred McEwen of the University of Arizona, “Finger-like features” appear on Martian terrain during the springtime. The best explanation for these observations so far is the flow of briny water.” McEwen is the lead author of a report in the journal Science that examines seasonal flows on Mars. He believes that since salt lowers the freezing temperature of water, it’s possible that the planet experiences liquid flows — perhaps just under its surface. And where there’s water, there are the conditions for life to survive on the planet.
With this new water discovery, is there already some form of life on Mars? Or, could earth potentially inhabit the planet someday for human life to successfully survive there? Hmmm…
