WATER ON THE MOON
Grab your beach chairs and swimsuits, because we’re going to the moon!
In case you didn’t hear, NASA purposely crashed a spacecraft into a section of the moon hoping to find water. But finding 25 gallons worth of it in just one small segment was beyond their wildest dreams.
Experts have long suspected there was water on the moon. So the thrilling discovery announced last week sent a ripple of hope for a future astronaut station in a place that has always seemed barren and inhospitable. “We found water. And we didn’t find just a little bit. We found a significant amount,” Anthony Colaprete, lead scientist for the mission, told reporters as he held up a white water bucket for emphasis. He said the 25 gallons of water the lunar crash kicked up was only what scientists could see from the plumes of the impact. But there could be more!
With this new water find, could the moon soon become an inhabitable escape location should the 2012 apocalypse theory become a reality? Hmmm…
