WATERLOO
It appears that a Republican Senator has really rubbed Barack Obama the wrong way and the President doesn’t like it one bit.
`
On Monday, the President named South Carolina Republican Sen. Jim DeMint as the latest GOP’er willing to play a dangerous game of political “got-cha,” by hoping to diminish Mr. Obama’s presidency via his plans to overhaul the nation’s health care system. Sen. DeMint said recently he is so desperate to see the President fail, that he hopes GOP efforts to derail health care would “break him” and be like Napoleon’s defeat at Waterloo. Needless to say Mr. Obama did not at all take kindly to the Senator’s remarks and used the quote to suggest that politics are trumping the interests of the American people. “Think about that,” Mr. Obama said. “This isn’t about me. This isn’t about politics. This is about a health care system that is breaking America’s families. We can’t afford the politics of delay and defeat when it comes to health care — not this time, not now.” The President urged his critics to move beyond the “politics of the moment” and the “tendency toward inertia” in Washington, and work together to pass a bill.
