Those are the words of Alabama Republican gubernatorial candidate Tim James, who recently released a controversial “We Speak English” ad, causing a firestorm of political and ethnic discord.
James vows that if he’s elected, he will promote an “English-only” society, including making the Alabama state driver’s license exam available only in English, which he claims will be a cost-saving measure. The political ad seemingly targets the ever growing Hispanic population in Alabama and around the country, many of whom only speak spanish. It also comes on the heels of the hot national debate over Arizona’s new immigration law.
