Docomo has announced an interesting concept that could change the way we use mobile devices: a wearable that takes the SIM out of your phone and puts it onto your wrist to create an authentication device for all your hardware.
Introducing the Portable SIM, which takes your usual SIM card and puts it into a Bluetooth and NFC-equipped wearable. Just wave your card or smartwatch-style bracelet over any smartphone or tablet and it will automatically connect and login to your phone network. Imagine upgrading your current cell phone to a new one with ease. Or being able to use your cell phone number and mobile plan on a friend’s phone, during those times when your mobile device battery goes dead. No more being locked into one device. The Portable SIM stays with YOU, meaning you can use it on practically any device!

This imaginative new device will also carry logins for shopping sites and social networks to be used in much the same way. Automatically log into Facebook, Twitter and Amazon from anywhere.
Docomo reminds us that this is very much a concept and currently doesn’t work with any commercially available hardware, but the overall idea is a brilliant one. Having the freedom to pick up and use your own mobile number, service and data plan on any device that comes to mind will be life changing!
