WHEN TANNING GOES TOO FAR
A New Jersey woman has tanned her skin beyond recognition. Now she’s in trouble with the law for attempting to deeply tan her own 5-year-old child.
44-year-old Patricia Krentcil of Nutley, NJ entered a plea of not guilty yesterday in Superior Court to the charge of child endangerment. Prosecutor’s have charged Krentcil with violating a New Jersey law which bars anyone under 14 from using a tanning salon.
Although Krentcil has admitted that her daughter was at the salon, she has denied that the child was actually in the booth with her while she was tanning, despite the 5-year-old now also appearing deeply tanned.
“It’s all made up,” Krentcil said.
Police were called to the child’s school on April 24th because the kindergartner was in pain from a pretty severe sunburn. Krentcil claimed her daughter got sunburned by being outside on a recent warm day. However, the child was itching profusely and complained to school officials that she had been in a tanning booth with her mother.
Krentcil is currently free on a $2,500 cash bond and is scheduled to make her next court appearance on June 4th.
