Whitaker Refused Obstruction For Trump

Spread The Love

Did Donald Trump attempt to coerce former acting attorney general Matthew Whitaker into obstructing justice on his behalf?

Politics
In a stunning expose’ published Tuesday, The New York Times has reported that Trump asked Whitaker to fix it so that Trump ally, Geoffrey S. Berman, could be put in charge of the Southern District of New York investigation into Trump, the Trump family, and the Trump business empire.  By putting Berman in charge of the investigation that is operating alongside the Mueller probe, Trump believed he could control it and prevent any damaging findings from eventually bringing him down.

Can anyone spell I-M-P-E-A-C-H-M-E-N-T?

Whitaker

When Trump fired former Attorney General Jeff Sessions and appointed Matthew Whitaker to temporarily replace him, the political world was perplexed.  Not only was Whitaker completely unqualified to lead the Justice Dept. of the most powerful nation on the planet, but he was never confirmed by the US Senate in any capacity.  Plenty of assistants in the Justice Dept. were much more qualified and already pre-confirmed to take over in this very scenario.  So, why did Trump pick the unknown Whitaker?

Donald Trump is big on loyalty.  Or, to put it bluntly, he wants everyone to work for HIM and to do HIS bidding.  So, when Trump picked Whitaker as the man who would oversee the Mueller investigation and could end it with the snap of a finger, it didn’t take a rocket scientist to recognize that Trump was looking for someone to run damage control for him.  To protect him.  To be his flunkie.  After all, Whitaker once told associates that part of his role at the Justice Dept. was to “jump on a grenade” for Donald Trump if he ever needed to.

‘The Donald’ loved that type of talk and that sort of loyalty and commitment.  Except, Trump had no idea that, in reality,  Matthew Whitaker had no intention of jeopardizing his own freedom just to save Trump’s butt.  When Trump eventually discovered that Whitaker would not do his bidding, Trump instantly soured on him.

Matthew Whitaker served as the acting attorney general until last week, when the Senate confirmed Attorney General William Barr.  Geoffrey Berman was recused from the Southern District of New York investigation and remains out of the probe.  The Mueller investigation and the New York probe are each independently continuing to gather information that could bring Donald Trump and his entire clan/empire crumbling down.  And now, if The New York Times article is correct, Donald Trump may have (once again) committed obstruction of justice.

If Donald Trump were truly innocent, as he claims, he wouldn’t be working so hard and breaking so many laws to hide information and his deeds from state and federal prosecutors.  After all, an innocent person has nothing to hide.  However, as the old saying goes: “Where there’s smoke, there’s fire,”  and Trump’s obstructionist moves are in flames.

Does ‘The Donald’s’ acts rise to the level of high crimes and misdemeanors, which is the bar for determining an impeachable offense?

The plot thickens.

I heard about this yesterday. They were saying it is definitely impeachable if they can prove Trump asked him. But Trump might have played it cagey and only said what if to him. They have so much on hm by now it probably won’t matter anyway. These are the things they will use to send him to prison when he gets out of office.
