White House In Crisis:
The Fall Of
Donald Trump

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, hopefully, you are paying close attention to history in the making. Not since the Richard Nixon era and the Watergate scandal has America seen a White House in such crisis and critical condition, that its collapse could, in fact, be imminent.

Last week, The Washington Post and The New York Times delivered a back-to-back “one-two” punch to Donald Trump and his White House that not only threw them off message, but threw the Trump-Russia collusion headlines off the front page.

Initially, The White House did all they could to deny the scoop from The Post and The Times regarding Trump’s leak of classified intel and then the Comey Memo. However, more information regarding more scandals eventually leaked from more sources within the Trump administration and made their attempts futile.

Let’s take a look at the news from just this past week, that seemed to go from bad to worse by the day:

  • Trump fired FBI Director James Comey because of how he treated Hillary Clinton. Then he said it was because Comey isn’t well liked inside the FBI. Then he said it was because of a recommendation from the deputy attorney general. Then he said it was because Comey is “a showboat.”
  • Trump threatened Comey not to tell the press details from any of their private conversations, or else he would leak secret tapes of Comey recorded inside the Oval Office.
  • Trump invited Russian diplomats into the Oval Office for a photo-op, allowing their accompanying “photographer” (who was presumably a spy) the opportunity to leave listening devices inside The White House.
  • While bragging to the Russians about all the “great intel” he gets, Trump leaked classified information cultivated from an undercover source working inside ISIS.
  • James Comey came forward with the news that he kept written documentation of his conversations with Donald Trump, including the moment Trump asked him to ignore the Michael Flynn investigation and to simply let it go.
  • On Wednesday, the Justice Dept. appointed former FBI Director Robert Mueller as Special Counsel to investigate possible Trump-Russia collusion and all associated matters.
  • According to The Washington Post, a current White House official is now a significant person of interest in the Robert Mueller-led investigation of possible ties between the Trump presidential campaign and Russia.  Although The Post said its sources would not identify the official (who was described as a senior White House adviser who is close to Trump), late word revealed that it is likely Trump’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner.

Interestingly, all of the above happened within just this past week.  However, new details have since emerged that now predict Donald Trump’s days inside The White House may be numbered. Let’s take a look at his 5 most recent catastrophes:

.

TRUMP CALLS COMEY “A Nut Job”
classified info white houseAccording to a scathing new report from The News York Times, Donald Trump told the Russians that James Comey is “a nut job.”

“I just fired the head of the FBI. He was crazy, a real nut job,” Trump reportedly told the Russian diplomats inside the Oval Office. “I faced great pressure because of Russia. That’s taken off.”

If true, not only did Trump berate a US federal agent to a foreign adversary, but he also admitted that the real reason he fired Comey was because he believed it would make the Trump-Russia collusion investigation go away.  Can anyone spell C-O-V-E-R-U-P?

.

ROSENSTEIN REVEALS TRUMP LIE
During a Thursday afternoon closed-door meeting with senators on Capitol Hill, Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein confirmed what Trump himself admitted during an interview last week with NBC’s Lester Holt: that Trump had already decided to fire Comey before Rosenstein was asked to write a memo justifying the move.  C-O-V-E-R-U-P?

.

COMEY TO TESTIFY
Late Friday night, James Comey announced that he will publicly testify before the senate intelligence committee sometime after Memorial Day. Apparently, Comey has a story to tell and is eager to get on record with details he recorded over the past several months.

Senate Intelligence Committee Chairman Richard Burr and Vice Chairman Mark Warner released the following statement regarding the Comey Memo:

“The committee looks forward to receiving testimony from the former director on his role in the development of the intelligence community assessment on Russian interference in the 2016 US elections, and I am hopeful that he will clarify for the American people recent events that have been broadly reported in the media.”

.

STAFFERS ARE LAWYERING UP
White House staffers are beginning to realize that this is quickly growing into a scandal of epic proportions that won’t simply go away.  According to Politico, veterans of past Washington scandals have told staffers that with an active FBI investigation already underway and subpoenas forthcoming, they should immediately seek counsel, hunker down, and prepare for the battle of their lives. However, since many staffers within the West Wing are young, inexperienced, and not at all wealthy, some are beginning to request that Donald Trump set up a legal fund on their behalf to help offset what could eventually amount to hundreds of thousands of dollars in legal fees.

Additionally, several staff members have reportedly started shopping their resumes, expecting that they might soon be in need of a new job.

.

IMPEACHMENT?
Last week, both Republicans and Democrats did everything they could to avoid the “I” word. However, that was then and this is now.

In perhaps the most telling and damning news out of the West Wing yet, Trump attorneys have already commenced researching impeachment procedures. According to CNN, the White House counsel’s office consulted experts in impeachment during the past week and started collecting information on how such proceedings would work. Interesting!

Politics
So, where do we stand today?

Political analysts admit that although it may be very difficult to prove that Donald Trump himself colluded with Russia in their hack of the 2016 presidential election, the potential for a legally sustainable obstruction of justice case against Trump is very much alive and well. The fact that Trump advised 2 of the investigation’s targets that the Russia “pressure” was off and that he had fired Comey the “nut” is, by itself, enough to bring Donald Trump down — and that’s before even entering into the equation any of the above bullet points.

Interestingly, while much of the US and all of the world watches the real-time implosion of the Donald Trump presidency, some Americans are completely oblivious to the catastrophic events that are quickly engulfing the nation.

Fox News, Breitbart, and other conservative media outlets have insisted on presenting “alternate” news from the Trump White House — if at all.  For example, while every other network was providing round-the-clock coverage of the Comey Memo, Fox News spent only a few minutes discussing it, claiming it was all part of a concerted effort by Democrats and the liberal media to discredit Trump.

“You have a couple of large newspapers that are so vitriolic and hateful against the president that every little scrap of paper that blows across their desks that says something bad about him — they blow it up, and I think that’s what you got,” a delusional Sen. Jim Risch (R-Idaho) told Fox News anchor Martha MacCallum while a guest on the network.

“There is only one person who committed a crime, and that is whoever the weasel was that disclosed this information,” Risch added. “That’s a felony, it’s un-American, and they endangered the lives of their families and other Americans. And that person is guilty of treason and should be held to answer for it.”

Additionally, while every other news outlet was reporting on Trump’s admission of why he really fired James Comey, Fox News spent its time discussing repairing a dam.

Damn!

Nevertheless, despite political warnings for the American people to proceed with caution and to not jump to any conclusions, the case against Donald Trump (of his own doing) is so incriminating, it’s difficult to envision it ending well for him. So, pay attention and “stay woke” folks — history is unfolding right before your very eyes!

Mr. BD

It was just a week ago I thought it was too soon to be talking like this. But after everything that happened last week I think it is real possible now. Trump never tried to really shut down the Russia story plus he won't show his taxes. He is definitely hiding something so I know there is something crooked somewhere. The minute they put Muller in charge is when it all fell apart for him because he can't hide from the special investigator. They are going to uncover so many crooked things from Russia to his still being involved in the Trump business to making money off government and some more. I forgot who but somebody on one of the news shows last week was saying Trump is going to find a way to quit and make it look like he is still winning and I think that might be… Read more »

And in other Trump-related sorry (but predictable) news it's now being reported that: Michael Flynn will invoke his Fifth Amendment protection against self-incrimination on Monday as he notifies the Senate Intelligence committee that he will not comply with a subpoena seeking documents. […] – Politico H/T: CNN and MSNBC Btw- I'm home fighting the flu for the 2nd time since last November (Thanksgiving to be exact) so please forgive me if my response is a bit well…incoherent. I've seen my doc and I'm on antibiotics and a few other meds so I'm grateful for good health insurance.and good healthcare. But please allow me a moment just to vent about the flu-shot. I've gotten the shot over the years and Every.Single.Time I have ended up getting the flu anyway. And as I've stated this is the 2nd time since November…so I'm done with the flu-shot. I've had enough. No more shots… Read more »

Now………. Kudos DJ, Well done. A thorough and detailed accounting of so much of the madness related to the Trump presidency and the 2016 presidential election. As We Americans (those of Us who actually care about this country) are compelled to take in so much factual info and process just what it may all lead to (taking the long view and not just living in the moment) for me and probably millions of Americans (like me) it's more than disturbing. It is, IMO, darn right frightening. It also makes me want to "HOLLA!" But the last paragraph of DJ post sums it up correctly: Nevertheless, despite political warnings for the American people to proceed with caution and to not jump to any conclusions, the case against Donald Trump (of his own doing) is so incriminating, it’s difficult to envision it ending well for him. So, pay attention and “stay woke”… Read more »

I am all for impeaching Trump – the sooner the better! However, I'm not a cynical person at all, but I've come to be so with Trump and his whole administration. He seems to get away with anything and everything. Just look at his campaign! All the horrible things he said and did, and the way he acted… and yet he still became "president??!" I WANT to think he's on a short rope now, and that he will hang himself with it, but it seems as if he can "get to" anyone he wants to… or get them fired if they won't comply.

I need to have some hope here, to see a light at the end of this very long, dark, scary tunnel…

I lost faith when Americans picked a used car salesman as their president who has been a conman all his life. My faith is being restored to see that our check and balance system is working.
