WISCONSIN TEMPLE SHOOTING SPREE

Spread The Love

Was it an isolated incident?  Was it a religious hate crime?  Was it a copycat act of the recent movie theater massacre in Colorado?

Police don’t exactly know.  But they are hoping to determine why a gunman entered a Sikh temple near Milwaukee yesterday morning, opened fire and killed at least 7 and injured several others.

At about 10:30am Sunday morning in the town of Oak Creek, just south of Milwaukee, an unknown gunman entered the Sikh Temple of Wisconsin and commenced with a shooting spree.  Worshipers scrambled to find hiding places and dodge the spray of bullets, while police were immediately dispatched to the scene.  The gunman fired at police when they arrived, but was shot and killed.

Authorities called the scene chaotic as they attended to victims and contemplated the gunman’s motive. Bradley Wentlandt, the chief of police in nearby Greenfield, said 4 bodies were found inside the temple and 3, including that of the gunman, were found outside.  He added that a veteran police officer had exchanged fire with the gunman.

“That officer was shot multiple times,” Mr. Wentlandt said. “The shooter was put down.”

The injured officer was taken to the hospital, but was expected to survive. The gunman was not immediately identified, although police are saying he was a white male in his 40’s, who was an army veteran and possibly a white supremacist.

Last night, mourners gathered for a candlelight vigil to honor the victims, including the temple’s president, Satwant Kaleka, who was among those who were shot.

Quote for the Day "Wyatt Earp had better gun control in Dodge City than most US cities have today."                                                                                                                                      ~Commenter @ The Daily Beast DailyNo doubt, the shooter was *disturbed,* and filled with rage but able to get his hands on as many GUNS as his tortured heart desired. Now 6 innocent people lay dead…smh.More and more I find myself asking: Just how "Civilized" are we?The fact that he was White doesn't suprise me. Nor will I be suprised IF it turns out he was a White Supremacist, considering he targeted a Sikh Temple. And a veteran to boot. Just. Sad.
