Since forever, traveling in the left lane has always been a huge no-no. The right lane is meant for driving, while the left lane is meant for passing or turning. Still, that hasn’t stopped Grandpa Jed and Grandma Jo from consistently placing themselves in the left lane and going 20 MPH under the speed limit — with a long line of cars stuck behind them.
Yes, the left lane has always been an irresistible magnet, since most people wish to avoid cars that are entering a highway in the right lane. However, the left lane is not a cruising lane for your use no matter how fast you think you’re going. In fact, police are starting to crack down on the bad habit and are issuing costly tickets that are meant to teach you a lesson.
