ONE HOMELESS MAN’S BLESSINGS
Ted Williams was once homeless and forced to panhandle for change on the streets of Ohio to support his alcohol and drug habit. But Ted Williams also had a very special talent.
They call him the “Man with the Golden Voice,” because Ted Williams was once a communications major with a radio announcer voice that could melt butter. But when an Ohio man filmed Williams doing a mock voiceover ad and put it on YouTube, the video went viral — and so did the job offers.
Williams received offers from the Cleveland Cavaliers, NBC and others to work for them as an announcer. The bidding war grew heated for the Brooklyn native, who ended up accepting a job offer from New York based Kraft Foods, so as to be closer to his family.
Last week, with a cleaned up life and no more sleeping on the streets, Williams was reunited with his mother after 20 years, in a tearful but feel good story of hope and second chances.
